I think another good backstory for the Guts build is Baalspawn as it's the closest thing to being an apostle and/or someone marked by the Godhand you could come to.

Nah, you get the throw damage gloves and ring, amd take Tavern Brawler. Do 4 levels in Barbarian and take Berserker for Berserker Throw. Then 8 levels in Eldritch Knight. Thats 4 feats btw. Tavern Brawler, Savage Attacker, and Two Stat increases.

I did something similar with an Oathbreaker paladin and a necromancer party. First it's lights out, then black tentacles come up from the ground and grab my enemies, then me and a platoon of the undead swarm our enemies in the dark.
