Those are all amazing selections. I love the Universal Monstars steelbooks and we have a new one out here in January to find. Walmart has had some really nice steelbooks available, but sometimes just too hard to get. All of the Film Vault steelbooks were also great. I wish they would have been able to do one for 1917.

what vinegar syndrome has been releasing is not good stuff like they used to do, so the paramount stuff they have is blah to me it's junk, the keep i under stand why they did that but congo, virtuosity, sliver, The prophecy movies, etc are just not good at all they are idk, not great and i've seen better films to have than those. i rather they release some Empire picture horror films than bland bad Paramount films that people don't care for

See I saw Congo in the theater as well so I already knew it was bad so I didn't buy the 4K. On the other hand someone out there enjoyed the movie and will have it in their collection. I can understand something like The Keep selling out because we've only had it on crappy quality VHS and DVD, I'm sure a lot of people regretted their purchase of The Keep but for me it's a perfect example of studio interference (and what might have been) and should be seen in the best picture quality.

The box is better than the movie.

Just evidence that if you wrap a turd in pretty paper, someone will buy it. It's one of the things hurting the perception of 4K. I enjoy 4K but I am seeing a lot of crap selling at high prices due to the format. Makes no sense.

The way I see it is this: 1. Matt Damon already told us recently that DVDs are still selling like hotcakes and make the BULK of the profit for the movie in physical sales. The main profit is from the box office, streaming profits are abysmal but only because streaming pays abysmally not necessarily due to lack of streaming. So movies TODAY rely on physical sales to make the difference and DVD is the BULK of that. Keep in mind that CD still sells and movie soundtracks on CD are still made, someone is buying them. 2. Blu-ray, we know from Matt Damon is second in sales to DVD. TODAY! The format is starting to gain popularity with the MASSES but they, the MASSES still get the DVDs, either due to price or the way they use them. As they are CHEAP they can be used in the car to entertain the kids or given to the kids for their use. Blu-ray is more expensive, and for good reason and is only just breaking out of the enthusiast market. We enthusiasts bought Blu-ray for HD, but the plebs didn't care so stuck wil DVD. Now many of the plebs are starting to care and starting to switch to Blu-ray. 3. 4K is where the enthusiasts have gone, or can accommodate such as by having a 4K player but not yet a 4K screen, which works just fine trust me. ALL TVs sold new today are 4K, even the small ones, only the smallest as cheapest ones in the back are still 1080p. So, this puts Blu-ray in a format war of sorts with 4K, which is still Blu-ray actually. The enthusiasts are already able to play 4K in some way or can easily move to it, the plebs are just starting to get into Blu-ray but mostly still buy dvd. Which would you drop? Considering that DVD is lucrative but easily rippable in SD only. Blu-ray is HD and relatively easily rippable, but in HD which the studios REALLY don't want. And 4K Blu-ray is much harder to rip. Perhaps pushing the enthusiasts to 4K and dropping Blu-ray makes sense as you still get the DVD sales, while throwing a punch at the casual Blu-ray pirate. This leaves the HD streaming public to get HD via streaming Vs disc and offers 4K discs as a superior alternative to the pathetic 4K streaming. I think it's not too incompressible that Blu-ray might be killed off (certainly as standalone) in favour of 4K while keeping DVD which earns the most. Personally I prefer DVD is I was only offered ONE format as that format can be played and ripped by anything and I hold it on the same plinth as CD Audio. I love Blu-ray and prefer to get that, when I'm not being asked to chose a single format to use forever. But 4K offers the same as Blu-ray, plus no regional locking! That's a big plus for me. Also the 4K disc should get better packaging and labels, dvd and some Blu-ray barely get disc labels anymore. The only downside is 4K is hard to rip. But, seriously, if I were ripping to get a scene for a video I wanted to comment on, or a scene to rewatch over and over or to dump on a laptop to use in a tent, the DVD is perfectly fine. But, I do support the freedom to rip. 4K rubs me the wrong way a little in that regard, but, if there is a DVD, I will buy twice.

Part of the issue, VS didn't cap the purchase of The Keep LE at one per customer, but they allowed scalpers to order two, which are now being sold on eBay for $120-$160.

I don't know why people are shocked that the keep is such a fast seller. That sells out so fast bc for one the keep is one of the most wanted catalog titles. That has been unavailable on any format other then a VHS & a laser disk release since it's original release. And fyi you can order the keep 4k on deep a discount still and vinegar syndrome has put up the keep 4k back on there website again to order. And I personally think paramount should have released the keep on 4k under there paramount persent line bc for one the keep would had a wider release & would been a bigger seller & more people would have gotten a copy of the keep to have. And I really think if the keep would have a wider release it could have sold over 5 million copies in its first two weeks on the market. And I really hope this opens the door for more catalog titles that are still unavailable on bluray & 4k to finally get a release in 2025

Pay full retail through Amazon and don't get the limited edition. Support Corporate America and help fund Jeff Bezos Yacht then. Severin is another company with long ship times in sales. Have you ever tried to import directly from on of the foreign boutique studios? How about Zavvi? I have waited as long as two months from release date to get my pre-order with alone a sales event. You have a better business model rather than complain? Start your own.

I'm still waiting on my Black Friday VS order. I'm getting emails on signing up with their subscription service now. No way in hell am I going to drop 1k on random movies without any heads up. Physical media is awesome, but if it dies it's because of these boutique labels and them trying to milk a dead cow. The prices started out at a decent price, but $50, $60, or even over $100? No can do. No shade at the folks who are willing to fork that out, but most of the B level films they're selling for crazy prices are on Amazon Prime included in their service fee. As far as "limited" goes, everyone says that if you email them directly they can usually find a "sold out" copy to sell you. I don't see me putting up with much more of the shipping times taking months. I work in an industry that has a busy season and we hire seasonal staff to keep our clients happy. The idea is to make money and long wait times are a profit killer. It might be a little better if they didn't take the money out until they ship, but sitting on $200 for a month and a half (maybe two at this point) doesn't work for me. Severin refuses to sell to me now because I complained about them taken two months to get an order. By the time the pre-order came in the other items where out of stock. They canceled my order and told me they won't sell to me again after I complained. They actually saved me money, with a little patience I can always get severin stuff cheaper elsewhere. The customer service at these companies is anything but boutique level. You got another sub from me brother.

And I'll tell you this Jeff, I do ALOT of horror conventions, and I have my own merch, but I see VS, Troma, Arrow, etc all there and those limited editions are there, so they're not LIMITED lol and you get a better deal on them at the Conventions if you buy in bulk. Also if you're a seller there, they well give you even better deals. Limited these days just means they're limited for this week only lmao.

I feel like some collectors buy shit because they see what other collectors are buying and get jealous lmao it's not because they REALLY LIKE the movie.

I'm sorry. but anyone who's done business with VS knows they are always late on shipping. But I personally have never had a situation where an order wasn't eventually fulfilled and delivered. So, why not just place an order and let them take the time they need to get it to us? What's the hurry? If receipt is time critical, which is rarely the case, then just don't do business with them. I'm a small business owner, and it never ceases to amaze how people assume that hiring new employees is an easy thing to do, or would be cure-all for all the problems associated with delivering a product to the consumer. Give them a break, or do your shopping elsewhere, and live without their exceptional products.

I tried to get a 4k player years ago, and I could not update the firmware on my bad internet. So I have stuck with 1080p Blu-ray.

I think what OrbitDVD meant is those sold out releases on Vinegar Syndrome's website they're still going to sell them on their website so they haven't dropped them completely. VS probably send 30 copies of the Keep with the slipbox. OrbitDVD also sold the standard edition of the Keep a couple of days after that. I just think the owner is tired of hate emails from he's customers.

VS is too dang spendy and very rarely do they have titles I want, I think I may have 8 to 10 VS titles in my collection, If that many.

Blu ray or 4K, I'll buy either, but I'm mostly looking for Dolby Atmos sound. My blu ray player has great upscaling (Panasoni UB9000); it's so good it's hard to distinguish between a blu ray and 4k. No matter what, I'll always buy physical media.

It does bother me to a point. Because of how my collection is set up. I only buy certain movies on each format. As an example my MCU/Marvel collection are all Blu-Ray. I'm not going to buy the 4K release of Venom The Last Dance when the vast majority of my collection is on standard blu-ray. That would throw my OCD way out of wack.

I’m not sure what prices you pay in the US. But here in England we pay £10 for DVD, £15 for Blu-ray & £25 for 4K films. So there is a big gap in the prices.

I'm fine with Paramount making this change. What I'm really annoyed about are studios like WB and Sony/Columbia releasing films on 4K without the Blu-ray. I plan on upgrading some day, so to be able to already have a bunch of titles with a 4K means I won't have to spend more money for them.

I don't hate digital at all and I can see why some people would prefer that over physical media because it's easier to just press a button and instantly watch. With that being said streaming will never replace a disc which has better picture quality and sound. Now streaming isn't all bad I recently watched a movie on Prime, I liked it so much I went to Amazon and got the bluray. I do redeem my digital codes I have over 140 movies but be honest I hardly ever watch them, I would much rather watch a 4K or blu-ray disc.

I love physical. But I also enjoy taking advantage of digital. Digital is a great way for me to save space for the movies I absolutely love. It's great for watching new movies without blind buying for $20+ on physical, usually on release day a lot of movies drop to $9.99 for purchase and that's the route I go.

Most of my digital library is from codes or promos. I have brought a couple cheap complete TV series from Vudu. I let some some use it as a way of sharing

I think Paramount will lose money on this idea. In store, the 4K/Blu Ray combo pack will be atleast $5 to $10 more than a stand alone blu ray. With this economy the way it is, I dont see people spending that extra money for a 4K they will never watch. I see more people not buying a Paramount physical release and instead buying another stand alone blu ray release. With a blu ray/dvd combo pack you could watch either on a blu ray player and it was cheaper in price, but with the 4K/blu ray combo pack you can't do that and the price will be higher. No one is rushing out to buy 4K players, I honestly think 4K will flop sooner than later, because 4K sales are terrible at the moment. The music business outpaced the movie business this year in revenue, which is hard to believe, but there are less n less great films that come out now, alot of hot garbage these days. You may find a handful of films every year that will become classics, it's 5 amazing titles and then 1000 turds lol 😂
