I’m glad I found this video, you describe how I’ve been feeling recently. Not because I have everything I wanted, but the opposite. I think when you get in the position either way that you’re not constantly chasing your ambitions anymore, you look more within and at the things that are constantly there whatever your life is like. I’m just starting to learn about faith, and what feels right to me in how to practise it. ❤

Sorry sis, it’s a lot of work. As a natural who grew my hair to waist length, it was a lot of work. There is a video of a stylist doing my hair on here titled something like “client hasn’t used a comb in 4 years” or something. I finger detangled for all those years, as you can see, my ends were in excellent condition because I dusted them from time to time. It was a lot of work. I would do my hair for a minimum of 4 hours every Saturday. I washed once a week and deep conditioned every month as well as protein every 6-8 weeks. I’m one year in my loc journey now. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to being a loose natural. I kept my hair in twists all the time anyways so I may as well have locs. Everyone thought my hair was loc’d because I kept it in a bun and twists. Good luck on your journey ❤ Also sis, to get past the growth plateau, keep your hair off your shoulders once it’s long enough to rub against your clothes. That causes your hair to break at the ends slowly over time. This is why ppl feel their hair can’t grow past their shoulders.

@@earphbound720 I had no idea about the hair touching the clothes, such a good point. Never thought that such a small thing would make a big impact. Thanks for the tips, it’s encouraging.

@ yes! The ends are the oldest parts of your hair and thus the most fragile. Baby your ends and keep them moisturized and sealed. I liked to use shea butter on my ends and seal it with flaxseed gel. Be gentler with your ends so don’t comb them hard or excessively. But the friction of your hair rubbing against your clothes over time is likely the culprit for not breaking the shoulder length plateau.

Nobody in the world wakes up/walks out of their house with their hair "done". There's always some level of combing/styling to be done before it meets your desired level of satisfaction. :) Your hair is really pretty by the way! Have you tried just using grease? Afrikanhairgod has a comprehensive haircare 101 playlist on his channel going over simple but effective natural hair care practices. You can get medicated greases too.

Hi! I love this video. Soo many points made are relatable 😅 When you mentioned not wanting to do all the work, I immediately thought of the mini twist girlies with tailbone length hair! I feel like you’re a perfect candidate for it.. Low maintenance, low manipulation, moisture-minded & it allows for washing AND versatility when you want it (you can always add hair if you don’t feel confident at first w/ short twists). I’d definitely recommend going on a deep dive to check out their YT videos. Also when you mentioned sudden unmanageable tangles, I thought back to a time when I had protein overload 😵‍💫 Look at ALL of your favorite & frequently used products see which ones have protein in the ingredients.. My culprit was a spray leave-in that I ALWAYS used before styling. Keep them, but reduce the use to zero until your hair returns to normal. Then, do an Aztec clay mask or a clarifying shampoo and do an intense moisture conditioning routine with products that contain no protein. And then you just work to maintain that protein/moisture balance with monthly clarifying. I really hope this helps 💕 Keep us updated, I’m invested now 😂

@ glad I could help 😁 oh also Head & Shoulders Royal Oils line, the blue As I Am line, and Nizoral shampoo are great options too! My husband has seborrheic dermatitis triggered by dairy consumption and I do his hair as well. The shampoos in the first two lines work like Selsun Blue but with moisturizing benefits. See this is why we need the old school hair forums to come back 😭 God bless 🙏🏾

Minitwists aren't low maintenance 😭😭 They take a long time to install, the takedown has to be very _gentle_ and most of these minitwists girlies admit they have to re-do different parts of it several times before the takedown.

I had the same issue with my scalp, even prior to getting locs. I found it was seborrheic dermatitis. And that would be the demise of my locs sadly, because I didn't want to keep trying to fix it and sacrifice the health of my hair. So I cut them. I am now on the same journey of trying to grow my hair back without all the work.

This is a shame people have to go through this nonsense especially when you know your credit score, mine isn't 700 just 490 but what do is just wait for mine other credit cards to give me a credit limit increase and make sure I'm paying over the minimum balance every month, that makes your score go up too.
