Climbed this the week before ya! Had similar conditions but with no crust. What an incredible line!!! Looks like your getting some sweet ski descents in good stuff dude!

Thanks man! Jealous y'all managed to catch it without a crust - It's a line I'll have to go back for so I can ski it without conditions changing from one side of the couloir to the other lol

You must’ve posted this three weeks ago, but when you skied down the NE face this was, February or March correct? There cannot be that much snow up there this time of year.

You're correct! I was having some issues with transferring photos from my phone at the time the video was posted and used stock photo. I updated it. Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks! It's actually not too bad. Getting back from the bottom of Success Couloir is a bit of a haul, but Kautz Glacier is a significantly more efficient climb than the DC... Assuming good conditions anyway.

Solid dust on crust scenario followed by a nice sluff that made it just crust in the choke 😂 there was some nice snow in the northerly-facing side of the chute lower down though! Still waiting to ski some corn this season 😅

@@altitoots me too, had a little bit of corn on the aprons this weekend but not in the lines. Hopefully that means we get a few more weeks of really solid skiing left tho!

Sick! I’m headed there this weekend! I’m a little newer with double black descents would you say the NE face is doable for someone newer to that kind of terrain?
@altitoots
@altitoots 4 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply! In good conditions, corn is a very forgiving type of snow. The run itself is wide open with a clean runout to the bottom. The slope angle is right around what most resorts would call a 'double black' (typically 35-40°). Without having skied with you personally, I'd have a hard time making that judgement call. I'd say the safer option would be the South Slopes, but if you like what you see when you're up there (including personal confidence and comfort), it may be worth trying. Best of luck and hope you have fun up there!

Thanks! Well worth the effort to get up there when conditions are good. I wouldn't sleep on the SE lines that drop into Big Willis Gulch either. Looked super fun from the top.

Dope video dope line! Did you hike up from the twin lakes side? How long did it take?

Yup! Hiked up from the Twin Lakes Side. I don't recall how long it took us to get up... Maybe 5 hours or so?

Sounds pretty firm on the top. Any memory of how soft it actually was? Sometimes chalk can sound like ice but still ski smooth.
@altitoots

Chalk up top, Ice in the shaded areas lower down, and corn in the sun. They'd had a rain event the previous week that made things interesting.

Did you have to skin up there or the lift takes you to summit?
@altitoots
@altitoots 2 жыл бұрын
Lift takes you most of the way and then it's a few hundred feet of hiking to the top
@blameitonben
@blameitonben 3 жыл бұрын
For those asking, take the summit. Exit right. Hiking up a couple hundred more feet and then get ready to drop in. Nice stuff.

You have to hike up it
@haydito1447
@haydito1447 2 жыл бұрын
You have to take the summit lift then hike a little. The terrain is very much harder than anything Hoodoo can throw at you. So you need to be able to ski/snowboard every single run on Hoodoo to even come close to be able to do the double black diamonds at the top of Bachelor.
