@@Pappy8563 if the motor is working there is no need to replace it. They have updated the motors, and when you put a track in the Ford parts book says to replace the motors. But there's no real reason, they only tell you that because they've been updated. If you do decide to replace them, you have to do both because they will not program together, a new one with an old one

But I do tracks all the time and reuse the old Motors with no issue. The parts in the new tracks have definitely been updated. As far as the aftermarket parts that are available, I cannot vouch for them. It seems to be very Hit or Miss as to whether they fit correctly or not. But it does seem that they have copied the newer style parts, at least for the cable guides

You have to at least drop the headliner and drop the track down on top of it to even try it in the truck...at that point all you need to do is remove the seat to get it out, so why make it so much harder? I'd pull it right out and do it. Note that you don't have to remove the headliner, you have to drop it. There's no getting around that, plus it's dead easy anyway. I know I've done more of these than just about anyone, but I can have the track out of the truck in 15 minutes by myself. A few screws, some seat bolts, the bolts in the track and then you have it out where you can do the job MUCH more easily.

Also is there a guide or something in the middle of the sunshade that would be causing this clattering/squeaking sound? Sometimes it sounds like a fiberglass/plastic sound when I hit a bump and other times it sounds like a nest of baby birds.

Further, it’s coming from the inside of the truck I do not believe the squeaking is coming from the glass but rather coming from some bracket running horizontally along the middle of the sunshade. Any and all advice would be much appreciated

@@JackNolan-oh5hl There is a plastic water trough, or "drip tray" in the middle, beneath where the 2 glasses meet. It's pushed against them with a curved spring on either side, and there are 2 strips of foam that form a wall to contain the water that also cushions and keeps the plastic from actually touching either glass. Lots of stuff there that can cause a noise like you describe. Only way to manually open the shade would be to drop the headliner in the rear and see if the motor has an Allen head on it to turn it manually, or use a Torx #25 and drop the motor a bit so it disengages from the cables and then you could move it back manually. Have to be careful to keep it straight as both sides will move independently without the motor engaged, and are easily broken.

Almost 100% that the other side is broken, too. If it's not, it will be soon. Do them both, definitely

I do not, sorry. Those are pretty hard to replace. I would need someone else filming me in order to make one. It's really one of those things that you just need to see it done. Maybe next time my son is home from college, if we get one I'll try and have him film it. We'll see. As far as setting tension, that's unnecessary. If yours is hanging down, the tensioner is broken and the shade needs replacing. There's really no way it can lose tension unless something comes apart inside it.

What part? We are in Charlotte, Statesville and Concord multiple times per month. We were in Statesville today. When we got home a few hours ago we took the headliner off as best we could and can't see where it has ever been wet. It poured the rain on the way home too. We've hit rain all day. We're thinking it might be the window? Maybe that little trim piece above the window on the outside needs sealed. We dk we have worked on it for weeks. No one around here knows anything about it. The Chevy dealership has never heard of such an issue. I'm in a group of over 50,000 2021-2024 Tahoe owners and the issue is posted at minimum once per day. It's not always the exact same issue as mine, but someone in that group complains daily about water coming in from the sunroof drains or something on the cab of their tahoe. Do you have a business number?

I have a 2023 Suburban w wet drivers floor, initially the dealer replaced the drain tube due to the gurgling sound . Since then, the drivers side carpet gets wet (not as bad as before) only when parked on an upward angle.. do you suspect it’s the exit gromet? I have brought it back 3x and they can’t locate the problem. Another theory is it’s the windshield. Thanks

@@paulfazi If it has the extension tube on it, it can't leak back inside. If not, then that's probably what it is. I don't know exactly when Chevy started selling the new tubes with the extension already on them, though. Been at least a year. So depends on when yours was done. That's where I'd start. Windshield is also a possibility.

@@gbnomore3918 I'm not really sanding it so much as I'm just washing it with that pad. In this particular case, and I probably should have said it in the video, the Ospho was just there as a protective coating over the winter when I wasn't working on it so I did actually want most of it off

@@edgregorio73 there's really no way to determine which path to go there. If you do the cables you are taking the chance that the aftermarket cables you get could possibly not work. But if they do you will save a lot of money. You're on the other option is to do the whole track, that way you know it's going to work. It's just a little harder to do and more expensive. But there's no test to determine which one that you SHOULD do, they are essentially doing the same repair in different ways. Which is replacing the broken parts.

@@edgregorio73 the dealer is wrong. The book recommends that you upgrade the motors with the new style, but you do not have to. I reuse old Motors all the time. If your old motor still work you can reuse them with no problem. As far as where to buy one, get a price online at like Ford parts giant or one of the other authorized Sellers and see if the dealer will match it.

What do you mean by "disarm"? To do the rear glass, you do have to drop the sunroof track. So you don't need to take it all the way out, but you need to drop the headliner, then drop the track and then you can get the rear glass out. I would remove the front glass simply because it makes the whole assembly a lot lighter and easier to deal with.

@@maxissj6831 okay assuming they are the same as the F-150s here, there isn't any roof trim, which I would Define as something on top of the roof. You need to drop the sunroof track like it shows in this video. I would remove the front glass first, and then drop the track. Once you drop the track you can take the rear glass out by reaching into the opening from the top and pulling it out the top.

@@tylergarmix2341 Sunroof isn't closed all the way, or at least the programming in the motor thinks it's not closed. And if that's the case it will not close past halfway. Does your sunroof glass operate?

It's broken beyond repair, then. In these cases, I have the truck running, get someone else to push and hold the "Close" button, and I grab the glass and pull as hard as I can to "help" it overcome the broken bits that are keeping it from closing. Usually that works. In extreme cases, I drop the motor and pull it shut manually.

@@johnnymckissick2735 Check the TDS of your particular brand, but I'm using SPI epoxy and what I did here was how they say to do it before using theirs. But all epoxy isn't exactly the same, so check your paperwork first. And remember, I didn't just clean the Ospho with water, I first wet the cured Ospho with more Ospho and let it sit, and then washed it all off to neutralize it.

@@hopefulvoyage You cannot install a factory sunroof in a new truck that doesn't have one. Well, I suppose you could, but it makes no sense. You'd have to replace the roof with a roof for a sunroof truck. Then disembowel the interior to run the wiring and drain tubes. It'd make more sense to get rid of it and buy one with a sunroof. And do not have an aftermarket sunroof installed under any circumstances. I've never seen a single one that wasn't a total hack job, that didn't start falling apart after just a few years.
