The expression is ‘another think coming’, not ‘another thing coming’. Please, before you come at me, look it up. It’s always been ‘another think’. People mishearing the phrase and then repeating it with a misspelling doesn’t make it right or in any way sensible. Thank you in advance for checking out the verity of what I say rather than piling on.

This is good but please list as John Taylor. This is not written by Arthur Conan Doyle

Agreed!! within about 2 minutes of starting to listen to Cumberbatch's wonderful narration, it just didn't sound right at all, checked the complete description, & discovered these are NOT the original stories by Doyle. They aren't even great "tributr" stories. Disappointment, hope I can find a narrator as good as B.C. reading the real thing.

If you must give us the words, do get it right. It isn’t ALLEN it’s Alleyn. Names (nouns) have a capital, letter. I could go on …it’s an insult to Marsh and Cumberbatch.

A fishy tale with a Finn, old trouts , cats and a Kitty; but without any pengwings. Benedict brought it to life as only he could.🥰

I absolutely love the character of John Thorndyke but there has only been 5 or 6 audiobooks on this channel. It is a joy to find this collection, thank you so much!

How is it that I, a mere pleb, know that it is pronounced Allen, not Allaine? Mr Cumberbatch has clearly never read the origin of the good inspector where Ngaio Marsh clearly states that it is pronounced Allen with no Y sounded. It's annoying. Pengwing.

Why the pic of Cumberbatch as Holmes? This is Marsh not Conan Doyle. Nevertheless Benedict Cumberbatch is, as always, superb!

Badly read, much as I like him. Ngaio Marsh made it crystal clear that it is Allen NOT Alaine or any other permutation, it is written Alleyn and pronounced Allen. I bet she's spinning in her grave.
