Gables Glory is a stunner, wish I had room for it. and Kumoi Nishki is super underrated... I scored hard last year and found a 6.5ft Kumoi Nishki chilling at a local nursery.

I could only dream to have a garden like that. Where I live in Ireland is zone 8/9 and usually get strong winds and bad cold snaps. I don't really have much suitable garden to do something as majestic as yours but some day, who knows. I am growing in pots an Acer palmatum atropureum and acer little princess. I would happily have be surrounded by Japanese acers all day long. Truly beautiful ❤ May I ask what zone you are in? I Ireland there is never really long spells of sun which would be the only positive so sun scorch shouldn't be a problem 😅

Thank you! I am in zone 6b in New England. The strong winds can be absolutely brutal for JM’s. Keep going the pot route!

I was lucky enough to find it locally! But MrMaple seems to be one online retailer I have seen selling it (when it’s in stock).

I'll be planting out a bunch of seeds from various neighborhood Japanese maples this winter, and your Bloodgood seedling got me excited about hunting through hopefully a couple hundred in the coming year or two. That is some spectacular rusty-red color on your seedling - I'm not a fan of Bloodgood, but that little guy is amazing.

This is actually the first year I’ve had potted maples. As long as we arent getting prolonged stretches of single digits or below, they should be ok.

Just my opinion but I did similar to u. After a few years my biggest regret was not installing larger, more specimen boulders and planting too many maples. When I did another garden I focused only on my must have maples and used unique ground covers to highlight them. IMO I went from a mere display to a cohesive collection with more interest and the rocks did not get lost and obscured

Looks like all your trees are looking very healthy and you are getting some nice new growth. Can you share what specific fertilizer you are using and your dosing procedure ? Some growers have conflicting opinions on what n-p-k ratios are best, so it can be a confusing topic. Whatever method you are using seems to be working great, and we are in the same conditions you are in, so I am all ears !

No fertilizer for me, but have brought in a lot of good top soil and compost for my garden areas. The rest of the property has minimal soil over top of developer fill (reason why my lawn is struggling 😂)

Great video and collection! Does your gold drift get more yellow for you towards the summer? I want one due to the yellow color. How does the tree look in the winter? Does the color dull down a lot? Maybe a fall and winter conifer garden tour update in the future?
@Koipondpete3 ай бұрын
Definitely will have a fall conifer video! The older growth does hold yellow on the tips of the needles well. The new growth is just starting to get yellow popping in.

Another question, do you ever apply any type of foliar spray on your conifers or maples like liquid kelp? Or do you ever water the roots with kelp or seaweed?
@Koipondpete4 ай бұрын
I have not, no
@SouloOnTheBeat4 ай бұрын
That Soul Fire looks very interesting! I have an Icebreaker and it has started to turn pink in some spots. I'm wondering if it is from my own doing. I spray some grass killer near it (that is supposed to be safe for plants) and I'm wondering if that caused it and if so, will it be able to recover. Question, how do you prep your flower beds for planting? Do you till the bed or do you use card board to smother the grass? Lastly, I'm assuming that this is your forever home because who could ever move away from a garden like yours that you paid for and created! Lol
@Koipondpete4 ай бұрын
I generally stay away from any sort of weed or grass killer for that reason. Rather be safe. If I’m building a new bed over grass, I’ll put cardboard down then soil/mulch over the top. Worked so far. And yes, hopefully here for years to come!
@SouloOnTheBeat4 ай бұрын
