@NCCRSweden - thanks for the research and engineering work on these bikes and the videos! The engine twisting forces with the chassis locking the heads in place is fascinating. It seems to jive with the markings on the top of the front piston only. I had no idea the EBR frame only attached to the heads in the front ??? The Vincent, Britten, and Panigale all came to mind as you explained this possible cause of the EBR front cylinder failures. Vincent - doesn't have the hp to be in the same conversation, even the late model ones out of Australia. Britten - it would have been interesting to see if they would have had to adjust their chassis if the engine continued to evolve and increase hp from its 160+ from the early 90s. Ducati Panigale - I see their chassis actually mounts to the block in the front but grabs the rear cylinder head. I really like your trellis chassis design. Will you be constructing one for the EBR 1190? I see the one is for a single.

As more you tighten the cap down (in relation to the fork) as less turns your adjuster is able to fulfill. If you go too low, the valve already get pre pressure and you might have just 2 turns allover at the adjuster before it blocks. Other way around, if the cap it too high in relation to the valve, your adjuster can turn now more rounds like intended. Like 4 or 5 turn, what is of course wrong. Correct is what the fork manufacturer had set the fork and that’s usually between 2.5 to 3.5 turns between full Ofen and full closed.

A trip to Kentucky in August 2018 nearly left us both unrepairable. Thanks to NCCR overseas, I rebuilt the bike, and it is again carving the back roads of Ohio and the Kentucky Appalachian.

Sooo I can check on the wear at home but I cannot change the actuall oil pump drive wheel correct?
@NCCRSweden6 ай бұрын
Yes correct. To change the oil pump drive you must remove the cam cover and for that you should get the tension off from the pushrods, what requires to open the the valve covers, what mean to rotate the engine. Yes, we know it can be done without, but we don’t recommend that for a professional job.

How are you guys feeling about Buell now? Yamminoob (YT Channel) just did 2 reviews on the 23' 1190rx. I think 2024 will be a good year to see what the Buell Community is going to look like in the future.
@NCCRSweden Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support and work. Indeed the next year will be benchmark how its brand future will develop. Their new models need to get available and proof where to stand in relation to the competition. No sales, no party. With the Langen LS12 now, there is the proof that on the 1190 motor you are still able to create a fascinating motorcycle. As you also have seen in your rides, the 1190 engine is still fit for another decade 💪🏁
@Ed-ty1kr Жыл бұрын
I actually prefer this "older" oil pump, since the newer is an XBRR oil pump. From my understanding, and feel free to coreect me...the XBRR used a hydrodynamic and babbitted journal bearing main, and a one piece cast crank with tiny oil passages to mitigate the "frothy" or air bubbles in oil. Whereas the XB12/9 street Buells use the 5 piece classic Harley Davidson crank, with roller main bearings. Basically the street XB's need high volume low pressure oil circulation, rather than the high pressure needed for journal hydrodynamic main bearings. This was the same issue the Milwakee 8 engines had, until the 2019 revised oil pump supposedly fixed that... somewhat.
@NCCRSweden Жыл бұрын
Honestly I never thought about the technical advantages of the new pump. I grew up with the old oilpump and if you keep an eye on the drive, they work flawless. I even have on with a 3rd rotor on one of the bikes for a Turbo application. I like them. One of the Cons of the „new“ pump is, that if it was disassembled and hoses disconnected, if the bike is on the side stand started up, the pump is not able to generate enough draft to build up oil pressure. Don’t want to know how many engines got later diagnosed with failures 🙈
