What is the chopped wood for? You started a fire in the snow and then cooked the meal over gas. Maybe you just like the smell of burning wood, while you eat?.....

Some more tips for winter hiking: bring a thermos of hot tea, put a hand warmer near your phone to not loose valuable battery life, bring hand warmers in case of an emergency and if you need to stay put for awhile also an emergency blanket, candle and thermarest seat, wear gaiters to keep the snow out of your boots, if it has snowed recently and you don't know the condition of the trail bring snowshoes, poles and microspikes so you are really prepared for whatever conditions you find!!!! Layers are super important. Don't wear cotton against your skin and it wicks heat from your body!

didn't bring the poles this time but will I agree, must have them next time!

People who climb half dome are out of their ever loving mine. It’s too dangerous. They need to close that up or they need to make a tram or something that goes up there to stop people from being killed or maybe they just don’t give a fuck.

I think the Rangers should install more poles one foot apart,and make everyone pay$ 125.00 to hike half dome,very simple solution.people stay alive.

Why not add some concrete steps beside the cables so people have an option of whether to come down safely or risk their lives? Is that the sort of thing Americans consider to be "too communist", like health care?

Very cool you can use other people’s permits. I thought it wasn’t possible. Is that what “permit jumping” is?

Why would you hike half dome in a storm, that is the first rule you need to know. People like you goof it up for the people that know what there doing. you should hike nature trails,Your lucky you didn't get hurt most people who go up half are not hikers, They have foolish PRIDE

I have watched quite a few Grand Canyon videos. Yours is very good. I do think you have high level of video shooting and editing. You are a talented guy. I am curious: how did you get to South Kaibab trail head at 7am? I heard the shuttle bus doesn't run that early.
@jeffreyyoh4 ай бұрын
Thank you, it means a lot! As for the parking, I woke up early and parked street side at Pipe Creek Vista (as recommended by the park ranger when driving in). The parking does fill up quickly though during peak seasons, so you would have to go extremely early to get a spot. I went in December with a lot less people, so I was able to get parking easier. Good luck with your future hikes!

At the peak you can see that storm clouds are moving in. Get off that mountain now.
@gabrieladiscenza8205 ай бұрын
The mistake was to continue the ascent when there were clouds gathering. Any remote sign there could be rain or adverse weather conditions, you are advised to not under any circumstances climb up half dome. It is not worth losing your life. You get amazing views for the sub dome anyway.
