I only did this in case people struggled with my Scottish accent. I'll maybe do all future videos in my own voice :)

I take it these are indexable? Looking to get these for my CNC conversion.
@engineeringsupplies4312
@engineeringsupplies4312 Жыл бұрын
Depending on your definition of indexable they should be. In other words, once the master adaptor is secured in the machine (by drawbar or locking mechanism) you can index/swap between adaptors. This is done by pressing the button and twisting the knurled ring (to remove) and pushing the replacement adaptor into the master adaptor (where it automatically locks). If you mean can it hold indexable cutters: Yes we do weldon shanks for straight shank cutters and shell mill adaptors (16mm spigot for 40mm shell mills, 22mm spigot for 50mm or 63mm diameter ones). Also, all of our easy change adaptors are interchangeable with Boxford VMC190 machines. However, you will need to unscrew the pullstud from your current adaptor and put it in to the back end of the easychange adaptor (thread size is the same). There are cheap copies of this system on the market who's name SOUNDS similar but are manufactured in India (as oppose to the UK). These are not induction hardened, made of cheap material and have terrible concentricity and tolerances. This can result in poor surface finish, accuracy, tool life and overall performance. Be careful who you buy from.

Air actuated drawbar is almost as fast and you do not need those expensive tool adapters as it works with all R8 shanked tools.
@Naeiou
@Naeiou 11 ай бұрын
The advantages of these is you can have tools pre-set in the holders already at desired length, to do repetitive operations, instead of setting the lengths each time.

@@Naeiou I use preset tools in my r8 shanked tools everyday. In fact I have some tools that have remained in their respective tool holders since the day I bought them!

@@37yearsofanythingisenough39 I was describing regular R8 collets, not the ER-16 ones. Back when I was machining, we didn't have them unless we had the luxury of a 30 Taper spindle. Your air actuated drawbar was a luxury too! lol
@Festivejelly
@Festivejelly 11 ай бұрын
but you need an air actuated R8 drawbar which is a lot more expensive

A bit more youtube presence might help sales! I've been retired more than 11 years now but we had this system for some time on an XYZ machine, you really can change tools manually in 4 or 5 seconds.
