Making a beaver right now. I guess I’m not exactly a beginner, I’ve been felting for about a year(?) but I have a suggestion to some people. If you have trouble felting paws, or eyes, or noses, I’d suggest getting some foam clay and sculpting the add-ons. Unless you’re really particular about using only wool, (I find at least for me it looks better when I sculpt the things) it’s a great option. You can sew them on, but I personally prefer hot glue. I don’t have any UV resin so I find clear nail Polish works great for shine on eyes/noses.

Thank you so much for directing me to the tutorial Icelynn, I didn't even know that this was possible!. Complete beginner (well with a few small projects done now to practice techniques), I'm really keen on felting a Sheep using armature and curly locks, but locks are very expensive in the UK so if I can use your method with the wool I have, it's a win. Win for me. Have you personally used this method for curly Sheep coats or would you stick to using Blue faced Leicester locks. The crimp looks amazing 😘🏴

Great video! I noticed some dye from the wool was on the towel I used before drying. I want to give these as gifts but afraid the dye will come off on hands/body. Am I not felting it long enough? Thanks for all of these tips and tricks.

Thank you. Dying and Felting are two different processes. I imagine you have felted your soap enough. The Felting is the process of the wool fibers meshing. Unfortunately some Fibers, when dyed can bleed. It means the fiber wasn't properly dyed, or the type of fiber and dye can effect that, and some dyes bleed more then others. No amount of rinsing, in my guess, is going to stop that... to an extent. I have felted soap that bled some, thankful they didn't stain anything, I just noticed after time they had faded and where the soap sat a little color spot, it washed away no issues. Not all Dye is the same, so it is hard to know what you have, or if it would be toxic to skin or ruin anything. I would suggest testing the wool next time before use, or looking into the dying process first. I do sell Wool on my Website, it will not bleed and is no toxic. I hope this helps. Happy Felting🌬️❄️🌲🤍

This is Needle Felting, it is a barbed Needle and as it pierces the Wool it catches the Fibers and interlocks them, meshing and condensing. Pretty neat. I hope that helps you understand. Thanks for asking.
