Hey Nolan!! I got to meet you for a brief second at The Ridge last year! I think you were actually headed to the restroom 🤣🤣 Anyway, my question is this. Can you explain why it is that the bike seems to change to much from round to round? It just seems like you’re constantly having to adjust the bike. Does it really change that much or are the tracks that much different??
@NolanLamkin21
@NolanLamkin21 11 ай бұрын
I’ll talk about this in an upcoming video, but it is all dependent on the track for changes to the bike. We try to not need and make tons of changes once we have a good base setting for the bike but I’ll explain more!

Still a noob (Pitt 2017); so many questions as a non-rider are "aha" moments now. The processes in a given class (or classes) is invaluable to me. Keep growing the sport!

That's all really interesting and informative. The race start can absolutely have a huge effect on the race. I think it is something a lot of us noobs struggle with. But you never know what can happen in a race. Especially if you know you have pace. Just keep grinding away. Great job. That pass around Wyman was crazy. You must have had supreme confidence to do that. Another good point you make is how close and fast things are when you are on the bike. A lot of times video does not do it justice.

Is this "2 cylinders" Electronic things really helps without damaging the engine? 🤔 I never thought this sound was done on purpose, only thought is was the traction control but : is it that common in racing ? (other than in the us ?)

Also just re-cleaned my R6 calipers. I didnt know about water being better than BrakeKleen to get rid of dust; great tip! I've also installed the retaining clip upside down and got severe brake chatter. Also, a pipe cleaner can be useful to get around those exposed pistons. Lastly, I inspect that retaining pin for wear. One time I was getting uneven brake wear and after looking at the pin, it had some wear that was preventing uniform translation of the pads. I replaced it and that cured it. Thanks for the vid.

Great stuff! Question: why do you use a little front brake soon after transitioning to throttle out of some corners? Ty
@NolanLamkin21
@NolanLamkin21 Жыл бұрын
I actually don't. For some reason, I always cover the front brake with one finger. So even when I brake with two fingers and I release the brakes, I still keep my index finger over the top of the lever but I am not still on the brakes. But it looks a little different!

in the corners when you start to open the throttle the bike sounds very different, is that just vibration on the camera or something?
@NolanLamkin21
@NolanLamkin21 Жыл бұрын
Good ear! No, it is not just the vibrations of the camera. That is an electronic setting in the bike that was causing that unique sound

How tall are you? Obviously you can’t do a lot to change that but in what ways do you think it helps you on the bike? Or does it hurt you more?
@NolanLamkin21
@NolanLamkin21 2 жыл бұрын
I am just above 6 feet tall, so I am one of the taller riders in the series. The BMW really surprised me with how ergonomic it was for me. With me being taller, it really fit me well and I have a lot of room for my knees to stretch out. Just putting on a race seat fit well. On my Yamaha R6 I raced before, we made seat spacers to extend the seat 1 inch higher. For me, the BMW fit BETTER than the R6 with a race seat plus seat spacers. Then on if it helps, there are advantages and disadvantages for anything. I think it helps me, I can move around on the bike much easier. I can adjust my bodyweight on the bike where a shorter rider might not be able to like I can. I also can get in a good tuck down the straights. As long as you are not heavy, then being taller can be a good thing. I've also got more leverage than a shorter rider.

nice recap how do you like racing the newer bmws? have you raced older gens before? i do track days with a 2 gen and cant decide if its time to buy a 2023.
@NolanLamkin21
@NolanLamkin21 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! No, I have not raced the older gen BMW's. Before I raced the 2022 BMW S1000rr, I raced a Yamaha R6. I did ride a showroom stock 2022 s1000rr as well, and the stock electronics really surprised me with how good they were right out of the box!

As a BMW owner and beginner track day rider I found this content AMAZING. Dont think I will be doing a track build on the Beemer as I street the bike still, but still great information. Have a great off season, and I look forward to seeing you at VIR next year.
