Technically you can, I do have to say it's not recommended. If you have to, remember to have a solid job offer and F-1 visa when re-entering the US.

Hi there, thank you for your comment. Remember to save the documents you prepared for H4 to F1 change of status, just in case it got asked for in the next immigration application (F1 to H1B). Universities do have a reputation to US immigrations, but it should not affect whether you're gonna pass your H1B or OPT application or not. The most important things are the legitimacy of the program and yourself following all requirements as a F-1 student should. So like you said, do the assignment, go to residency classes on schedule, you should be good!

Using Day 1 CPT and Apply for OPT and OPT Extension(total of 3 years), is only possible if: You haven't use full-time CPT for more than a year. or else you lose the eligiblity to apply for OPT. Keep in mind that, you can only use a Master's OPT ONCE. if you used OPT in first master, there won't be an OPT for second master, no matter how you use Day 1 CPT.

Great question, all day 1 cpt programs REQUIRE physical presence, at least once per semester. However there no minimum hour amount set just yet. Once per term, or Three times per year (if no semester break) should be the minimum.

Thank you so much! For your first concern, you can absolutely keep your software engineer job/title, I wouldn't recommend go for a MSCS degree for Day 1 CPT. However, schools do offer MS Information Technology, MS Engineering Management, MS project management, etc. which lots of my SDE friends go with. Second, for MBA, since it has lots of concentrations, for example a MBA-PM or MBA- data analytics, is designed for project based management, instead of managing people. So lots of engineers choose MBA because they can learn about management in general for future career, and it also helps them management their individual project. Hope that helps with your concerns!
