I love your work so much! How did you get a more soft old school movie look? Usually this camera and the pocket 6k look too sharp and “Digital”. This looks like it was filmed in the 90’s and looks stunning!

Thanks I like this style, it's something I'd do. Just simple scenescape. Thanks for showing this as I am deciding between the 14 and the 12. Peace

did you use a speedbooster or is it directly mft on the camera?
@FilmTechNZ3 ай бұрын
I used the MFT version of this lens so no speedboosters
Great video! What platform do you use to mount the camera and the adapter on?

I used a custom shoulder rig I built from smallrig components, gave me the most flexibility to keep the lens supported, camera in place & monitor to preview shots

Shooting during the day, did you use any ND? I dont think the lens itself has filter threads dur to its design, and no real mattebox can clamp so I'm assuming you didnt but just wanted to ask. Great video, love the quality
@FilmTechNZ4 ай бұрын
I actually 3D printed my own custom friction mount that attaches onto the outside of the lens, that I then glued a step up ring into so I could mount my ND

Very clever. Need to look into one of those. Thank you for the response.

This seems like a really great alternative to the Helios for smaller sensors like mft and super 16, minus the fact that it seems pretty hard to find one on a budget anymore. Any ideas of where to get it?

beautiful! i was wondering if it vignetted a lot in the corners when not cropped/when shooting photos? i know lenses like these tend to be a bit dark in the corners wide open, but i was wondering if it was anything like what youd find on an APS-C sensor or a FF one? i dont seem to find many videos with this lens in the context of something other than a 16:9 aspect ratio

what is a og bmpcc? and why is the frame so big on KZbin? I know you shot 4/3 but the frame I am seeing is so large it looks Imax. I have a bunch of Kowa glass (anamorphic and spherical)and my stuff doesn't look like this. Simple and stunning! Bravo

It's the original pocket camera. The one from 2013. He might have shot in 16/9 but cropped in editing, due to the vignette the lens produce in that sensor. Cheers

I already have a Sigma 18-35 for my BMPCC4K and am thinking of also getting this lens. Would it compliment the Sigma well? When would I use this one and when would I choose to go with the Sigma practically?
@FilmTechNZ7 ай бұрын
I own both those lenses, but I find myself shooting with this lens more often. The main differences are in size & stabilization. The 18-35 is a heavy lens with no stabilization. This is an extremely small light weight lens with optical image stabilization. I use the Sigma 18-35 if I need zoom for a planned project where I control a lot of the elements such as stabilization with a gimbal because it has a slightly sharper image quality & can shoot lower light, especially if you have a speed booster. But the Lumix is my go to for anything run & gun or travel related due to it's tiny size and light weight without needing to rig it up.

how is it so clean in some shots, and very soft edges & swirly in others? just stopping it down?
