I see the things are slowly moving into place. Just one advice. Don't bother with hay... the winds are too strong and grass will just grow inside it. Cardboard in few layers and compost/earth on top is the most efficient way. When cardboard gets wet nothing will move it and it will kill off the grasses. And when you want to plant something you just make a hole in the cardboard to reach the soil under.

In the long run there will be more squeeze meters with healthy soil. This was only 10-20 cm topsoil, and now I can grow trees and more plants. Below I already planted lots of nitrogen fixing plants to bring more nutrients into the soil and will plan to make a fruit forest.

good luck living in MN, we have been here for 3 years and it has been nothing but trouble - smoking and rubbish everywhere, loud and ignorant people, crazy parties with shootings and banging music until 3 am, low quality foods, crazy prices (higher than in some EU countries!), and constant small but steady cheating from shops, neighbors, offices, etc. Very unpleasant place to live in and realise the REAL picture, not a made up one.

Very warm and welcoming people. Yes raw at times. Smoking is across Europe. Rubbish and recycling could be better. Already improving. Hunt for quality food, it's there. Prices are rising everywhere. Good people moving to MN. Magnificent landscape and waterways. A sense of freedom that other countries don't have.

Hi Oleks, I think it depends on where you settle down what your experiences are. And this goes for any country. In the Netherlands my home country there are so many places i would hate to live. from over 3 years living here and seeing a lot from the country and mostly rural regions...I can't say but breathtakingly beautiful and the people warm and welcoming. Trash is a thing I agree, organic food also, that is why i grow my own....sometimes there are some wild parties and customs...but mostly quite and peaceful and definitely not around where we live. And i can't blame the locals trying to make extra money from us. When we got here the minimum wages were 400 euro's. I don't mind paying extra compared to locals as my income is so different then theirs, and they can't ask much from their fellow citizens as they have Little income. For me it is still fair and a lot cheaper then in the Netherlands....and if you stay in the torusitc areas, everuyhing is expensive. the country counts only 600.000 people and has over 4 mio tourists every year....that is when the money needs to be made. So yes there are different sides to every country/region/city....you just have to choose wisely.
