Your Ford F 150 Lightning Lariat is a good truck and it is a worthy competitor to my Chervrolet Silverado RST. I too use my truck in the trade as a rolling power tool / station and love the ease of use. I am in the south east so we have less winter headaches here. Some of my job sites are 100 or so miles away and having a smooth drive on those longer road trips makes the day a better experience. Also the lower operating expense is better for my bottom line.

It’s depends what is the purpose of the building. Normally heated home or garage, under the concrete slab & on top of the insulation. If it is a refrigerated warehouse, the ground will be most of the time warmer than the concrete, so under the insulation. Humidity migrated from warm to cold.

Many people don't realize that foam does actually absorb water over time. This is also why the vapour barrier has been migrating to the exterior of buildings and homes in newer construction. When the insulation is in the area where condensation is present the r value is effected in a negative manner. Good job!

Gotta pre-condition the battery before cold long distance driving. Warms up the battery and cabin before leaving. You can set it in the ford pass app for day of the week and time. How has it been in Montana with the snow?

How about you do that again but pre condition so that the plugged in vehicle warms the battery (and interior) before starting your journey? I would love to see those results, especially for the comparison and for a more likely normal use case.

Lost 25% of charge and you lose more in the first few miles while things are warming up. You can reduce this by preconditioning the battery before you leave.

I left that morning to check on a house because it was so cold. The truck had no problem starting at negative 27 F. Gas and especially diesels will not like that temperature on start up. It also takes my diesel tractor 15 minutes of idling to be operational. I'm a bit disappointed in some of the modern men, did you tube destroy their ability to understand machines or anything else for that matter? Its all simple science. Nothing wrong with diesels or electric trucks. One just needs to know the parameters of each. Be cautious of miss information!

My in-laws in Boulder CO area. EVs are good choice. Seldom drive beyond 200 mile ever. DIA is furthest normal. 170 mile round trip I think? That area LOVES EVs. Free public chargers till 2020, plus daytime temps over 40f almost entire winter. Maybe a week below zero *it seems* and maybe 3 weeks total days below 30f during most of afternoon. Heck most snow you clean off the lightest fluff with a broom BEFORE it gets too warm. So 9am at latest. What’s left melts DRY by 1pm. It’s FUN shoveling snow compared to MN snow. Do basic research, check over area, realize *range* is like MPG new truck owners claim. A good 25% higher than real. This truck, under good conditions. That 200 mile range. Is maybe 170 useable? You are to recharge at 20% right? Fast charge to @80%? So next range under 130? It’s not strait math. Where 20% is 40 miles. I think they could be great 2nd vehicles for families. I see 80 mile plug in cars $9 used. For kid that goes to college 10 miles away, then job another 15 miles, then 15 miles home. If charged nightly. Heck it could even go on date, tell her battery is getting hot we need to park in dark, w/just radio, heat on….

It appears that your not all that happy with your EV. EV Hack, with that big empty space behind the cab gives you a lot of room for a Generator and a 20 Gallon gas tank. Beats freezing to death in your EV.

Afraid to drive an EV because of mileage concerns. And of course, the mileage plummets during cold weather and when accessories are used. Bet there's lots of charging stations where you live. Can't wait for a Cybertruck, huh?
@larrybruce4856
@larrybruce4856 11 ай бұрын
Mileage will drop significantly in cold, winter weather on any electric vehicle. The cold deteriorates the battery efficiently and if using the heater, wipers, defroster, heated seats, radio etc it will deteriorate and cut mileage even more. I think it will not be unusual to sadly hear of people freezing in their electric cars during sub-zero weather conditions due to not reaching their destinations due to dead batteries.

@larrybruce4856
@larrybruce4856 11 ай бұрын
They think they are saving the Planet. But in reality they are destroying the Planet with child slave labor mining chemicals for lithium batteries, China coal-fired manufacturing plants to make the batteries, diesel ships to transport vehicles and batteries to America and no infrastructure in the US to charge these POS vehicles. Vote Trump 2024 to MAGA ! ! !

-24F is a pretty remote edge case and can still be totally manageable in places with good charging infrastructure and the situation will only improve with newer battery technology and better thermal management. Nearly 1/3 of all of America lives in the warmer parts of CA, TX, FL which rarely even see freezing temps let alone sub zero. Millions and millions more live in moderate climates on the coasts, in the SW desert states. One of the places with the highest EV adoption in the world is Norway.
@larrybruce4856
@larrybruce4856 11 ай бұрын
Dream On ! ! ! Many can NOT afford these expensive vehicles. The American taxpayer can NOT continue to subsidize these vehicles and infrastructure to charge them. Currently EVs are a fire hazard where one is afraid to park them in a garage, in a driveway or a public parking structure. They weigh more than a normal vehicle of the same size. They are not reliable in cold weather.

I have the same truck for a company truck. In the summer it would get up to 230 miles range. I drive 13 miles one way, when it was in the 70s it would take 6-7 miles off the battery to make the 13 mile drive. Once it started getting in the 30s and I use the heat it would take 30 plus miles off of the range for the 13 mile drive. Use the heated seat too it’s over 40 miles off the range. Also now that it’s colder it’ll say anywhere from 185-215 is full charged. Please like you said stay close to where you can charge it in this weather. I live in a rural area, work is the only place I can charge it. The closest public charger is an hour away. Stay safe and warm

Why would you buy that POS if you live in a climate like that? What a joke. Range sucks, takes hours or days to charge, and if it ever goes dead in below freezing weather, forget it, the battery will freeze and break, then it's junk. 🤷
