Hi @noBulldustTV. I'm in New Zealand dealing with this same issue (using Sutton Tools/ReCoil M11 x 1.5mm thread insert kit). Where did you source that Tee-Bar extension for the tap. Any help gratefully recieved

i am going through this with a co-workers car. he has a 2002 toyota camry with the 2AZ-fe 2.4L 4 cylinder. i went online and bought the NS300L kit from Huhn Solutions for $375. it comes with everything you need including a jig to make sure you are drilling a tapping perpendicular to the mating surface. i highly recommend it.

Can you keep driving it as long as the coolant level is fine?

@@Connella2008 I have a 02 camry with stripped headbolts. Is it safe to drive as long as i keep the reservoir full and drive it under 3000rpms?

@@RonZ7 my coworker was driving for an unknown amount of time on his stripped headbolts. he had no signs of the damage other than leaking coolant. as long as you keep an eye on the coolant level and the temp gauge, you should be ok. however, you really should get it fixed since topping off the coolant constantly is going to be costly. you will also be losing compression so you might get check engine lights.

Connella2008 My mechanic said just replace the gasket and bolts. But if the block threads are worn out I really need to consider time sert or helicoil right?

Forget about helicoils, use Time-serts. They are so much better!

A Timesert is the proper one to use for that repair rather than the Helicoil.

Hi, i have rebuilt my son's 3.5 rodeo 2004 and missed up the timing and during first start up piston 2 and 6 each broke off 2 valves. The cylinder head took the worse hit between valve Int and eg. its located on the edge good dint but the structure is beefed up right there. cylinder 2 and 6 got kissed 6 has a small chunk out of it. could this be salvaged and still used. If not why or can i fix it? Its got 76k and at 34k had a rebuilt by a shop at 76k blew a head gasket so im thinking this motor is a lemon turd. the cams look nothing like whats on youtube. Two camshafts two two gears no idle gear and no rocker arms. Timing built is 5 inches longer than stock new one. Can this motor be salvaged and used or is it 6 feet under?

Hi There I have a cracked right hand head as you have described. I can source a new one for a reasonable price. My question, is it common along the 6VD1 engines and do the left hand heads crack as well? Does one replace both heads as it then becomes pricey and possibly a replacement engine is the better option? Thanks and Regards Tony Theobald

Blocking and plugging the holes is considered an "implied task", and really doesn't matter if he says to or not. If you don't have enough common sense to think about what you're doing, you have no business taking apart an engine. Only suggestion I could add to this is to use chalk on your files, so they don't plug up so easily with swarf, which scratches your new surface. Files are capable of producing extremely smooth finishes if used with a light touch, and cleaned often. Another implied task is to check your work with a straightedge often, even though he already mentioned it before he started filing.

Did you think this up by yourself or did you learn it from someone else? If you do that with the block in the car where the hell do the filings go? Into the bores around the piston or into the water galleries or the oil galleries? Maybe I missed something in your vid. You may get the surface all shiny but will it be level front to back and side to side and what about when you reach the edges? No way can you apply an even force over the entire surface.Did you do this vid as a practical joke?
