The lens is not missing on this camera. The lens is built in. If it were an external lens, then the focus would be adjusted on the lens itself, not via an internal mechanism controlled by a "focussing dial" as stated in the video. My version of the camera is an earlier one with the lens cover door. I didn't realize there was a later version, like this one, without the door and with a top vewfinder lens. Dang. Another bit I need to make my collection "complete"...

My opinion is that boats these days are too fat. By that I mean too heavy. The claim made here is that these boats are light. Well, my 1987 18ft. Glastron, still running strong, weighs 1350 lbs, w/o motor. How much does this 18 footer in the video weigh? I bet almost a half of a ton more. As for quality, I agree the quality in these new boats is fantastic. Mine is terrible by comparison. Mine has only lasted 36 years so far. That was meant sarcastically, as 36 years is pretty darn good. In any case my guess is that these new ones will probably last 100 years. btw I own 3 Glastrons (but not the fat ones).

@@DarrenNemeth , thanks! First, I need to either build a spring belt (or two!), or have someone who makes projector belts give it a go, so I need to find the diameter and length of that belt, or get my hands on an old one for reference. Second, I understand that the right motor is needed to drive the take up spindle of the 400’ mag because the spring wind just won’t cut it, so I’m hunting for a B&H motor. Thirdly, I’m learning about the “valve” or film entry/exit point’s need for such a thing.. or something like that. Sorry, but it’s late tonight, so I’ll get the correct terminology and finish the first round of questions tomorrow! I really appreciate this.

Thanks for posting. I am a former projectionist & have seen some Nitrate come thru the various projection booths over the years. I now work in a History Museum. Some years I was replacing fluorescent ballasts in one of our collection rooms & could see a 2 reel 1000 foot shipping case on a top shelf. Being curious I opened it to see what film was in it. Sadly the 2-1000 foot reels of Nitrate had turned to dust leaving only the bare reels behind. I'll never know what was its contents.

I bought an early model b and was hoping to have some fun with it. I got a 3 stop nd filter for it, but I'm very new to photography, so I have no idea what filter I'd need, a guy in a group suggested 3 stop so I started there. I was able to fit the 3 stop nd filter, but am uncertain if this is enough. Do you by chance know what filter I need when shooting with 40iso? Any tips would be appreciated.

Not sure. Check out the forums for that. A light meter is needed and Orwo is the only good film stock that is sold with double perforations.

Ok I just bought this model from eBay but it’s missing the footage counter. How often do they show up on eBay (footage counters)? And what were the years they made this model? Does it take single perf film? We’re these models especially used for filming the local news back in the 50s and 60s?

Hosmer was my first school I attended beginning Sept. 1960 to June 21, 1961 for kindergarten. I am looking at my pink report cards I received. Mrs. Carroll was my kindergarten teacher then. The classroom numbers I went to were Rm 114 for the first half, and Rm 202 for the second half. I lived on Lakewood back then. The principal was Pauline D. Bergener. It is amazing how things can go to ruin in a short period of time. The school was built for the neighborhood. The neighborhood children have gone.

pull processing lowers contrast and that would be good on a bright sunny day; it also helps Foma expose better in bright sun unlike 100 ASA that requires filters to knock down the light some or the shutter could be closed 1 stop then f22 might work.
