Just saw one of my guppies that grew with an atrophied tail lose his battle against swimming properly and being consumed by a horde of red shrimp. They don't waste any time.

@@brain0nfire oh wow. Sorry for the loss. But that's crazy
@brain0nfire3 күн бұрын
@@RWAquariumPages it's okay, the guppies reproduce like crazy, but i kinda loved that funny one. He had spirit even with disability. But that's part of the cycle of nature. And I love shrimp as well. They're so interesting. I usually put my hand in the water and they all climb on me. It's endearing.

Why are the 3 weeks and 3 months marks critical?
@RWAquariumPages4 күн бұрын
i find personally, within 3 weeks if they shrimp don't die they're in good shape and within 3 months they should be breeding for you, that marks another critical point in their timeline

@@RWAquariumPages I got a very bad experience recently from import shrimps.. more than half died slowly over a few weeks.. I'm hoping the survivors can bounce back and establish a colony..

Is common tds grow over time?
@RWAquariumPages8 күн бұрын
@andugo yeah, from shrimp poop, excess food breaking down and water evaporating, that's why we need water changes to bring it back down

@kevinw1980 I think co2 is the best way but I don't find it necessary, also if you keep white socks, blue legged poso or white orchids those will do well in ss 7.5

We want to set up a crystal red tank, we have the same water quality as you since we are based in Vancouver as well. Would love a guide from you specifically for vancouverites. No we are not going to get an RO water installed. We will just make do with regular tap water. Any way for that to work? Our tds from tap is 27

Best to let the water gas or age out for 48 hours before using it

Thanks love this video, made this summary for reference Highlights 🌊 Sulawesi shrimp thrive in specific water conditions, with a pH of 8.1 to 8.4. 🐚 A 10 to 20-gallon tank is ideal for breeding and stability. 🪨 Use inert substrates like crushed black lava rock for optimal shrimp health. 💧 Reverse osmosis water is recommended to maintain low TDS levels. 🌱 Beneficial bacteria and nitro bacteria enhance the aquarium ecosystem. 🐌 Adding snails aids in cycling and biofilm production. ⏳ Allow 3-4 months for tank maturation before introducing shrimp.
