I seen either 2 of these or maybe 2 f16s I can’t quite remember but they went over my head while I was at work and I work outside. I thought it was a loud thunderstorm coming in but then I looked up and my only thought was boy am grateful I was born in the US of A

That's just an engine vortex. It is basically a dust devil. If it was a tornado then the plane would be destroyed and the person filming would be dead.

We had them on the Saratoga & the Kennedy. A super little attack machine that was awesome. Thanks for posting without Talking & No Music. Great video. Wish that they were still in service along with the A-7 Corsair II. Both were an asset to the ship.

The last F-104 I saw flying was at Nörvenich airbase on the day of the terrible accident at Ramstein! After that I heard another one, without visual contact. As I've always lived near Nörvenich, the sound of that plane will always stick in my ears! Incomparable! The crockery in the cupboards always rattled!

From the RCAF Museum. There were 113 out of 200 Canadian aircraft lost during the 24 year era of the Starfighter. 37 pilots lost their lives while flying the CF-104, only four fatal crashes were due to aircraft system failures. The principal cause of crashes was due to bird strikes or other factors resulting in engine failure.

Saw the f22 at an airshow. The best way I can describe the sound is. It sounded like it was ripping the sky.

Notice that when the engine is just barely in after burner the smoke stops. That is because the fuel that is not burned in the combustion chambers is burned in the tail pipe. There are 4 stages of after burner controlled by four spring loaded cylinders according to throttle position. Just a neat thing to know.

Believe it or not, most of that signature sound is produced by the laminar flows around airframe itself particularly the geometry of the intakes and wing strakes as they divide the airstream. Another classic example is the space shuttle orbiter during HAC phase and landing approach which sounds much like a jet plane only bearing in mind there are no engines on that gordo glider!
