If you soaked it in soda ash after you three initial rinse will you be able to preserve the pastel colours or will it still continue to fade?

You stated you put soda ash in the jacquard dyes. How much did you use? Is there a way to add soda ash to powder dye to skip the soda ash presoak?

I noticed you did dye over ice on one side and dye under ice on the other. Is there a reason for that? Does it change the outcome?

Personally, I do the Piranha method and I do much more than a sprinkle because I like my color to find it's way down a crevasse to create a mosaic on its own.

Is dharma the best option?

So cool that you take the time to do these comparisons! Have you ever tried doing both methods. Like perhaps using the lines with the cold water and then ice dying the rest?

How did your logwood dye come out so purple? My logwood never comes out this purple. I’ve tried many different ways of doing it even when I use Logwood extract it does not come out this purple I am seriously curious how do people get their logwood to stay purple I’ve been working really hard trying to figure out natural dying and it is just way too difficult.

That is such a great idea. Especially if you were sourcing & testing shirt suppliers. Thanks! Good call on the hydrogen peroxide, imho. With the amount of bleach, the concentrations of modern bleach/ hydrogen peroxide. This shouldn't be a big issue. But, it should always be noted that mixing the bleach X hydrogen peroxide could create chlorine gas. Which is highly dangerous ☠️ . It's just better safe than creating an accidental, self-induced chemical attack in your house or studio, right?

Those colors are beautiful together and the ice creates a stunning pattern. I barely have any knowledge about regular dying, let alone using ice. Do you have to dye the front and back separately or does it soak through on its own? Thanks! 🙂
@practicalandprettyАй бұрын
Nope I just do the one side! Sometimes I will flip but I try not to. If it hasn't gone through the bottom I just add more dye and ice.

Thanks for making these vids, did you put the front or the back on top? Does the dye look more vibrant if you put it on the material vs DOI?
@practicalandprettyАй бұрын
I've done lots of different experiments on this and it really just depends on what you're going for! If you want more splitting and for the color to spread a bit more I suggest dye on the ice (DOI) but if you don't want the color to spread too far then I put the dye under the the ice. I flipped this one inside out so the back and the front would be relatively the same and I honestly don't know if I had the front or the back on top. I try to always have the front on top but it doesn't always happen that way! Hope this helps thanks so much for your comment!

What is the mix/process for creating the Out White Brite “paint”? The color of White Brite is closer to what I’m looking for than bleach but I’d like to have some control over the shape of the coloration lines and am going to try to do a manual painting of the edge if the standard dip dye doesn’t give me a decent line.
