It seems absolutely identical to klr 600 in all parts. How many HP does have motor?
@Z1100Rtaka3 ай бұрын
It's called the KLR600 worldwide, but the KL600R in Japan. I've heard that even though only 200 were sold in Japan, it sold much more worldwide. As you say, the specs are the same as the KLR.

So what I am not getting is that the announcer stated that Rainey was 5 points ahead of the honda rider, who then crashed out in leg 1, so why did Rainey, who not only finished leg one but won it, had to finish 3rd or higher in order to win the championship?

Willow Springs sucks today and apparently it sucked back then.

At 19:46 it looks like Cooley has a hairy moment on the left hander. The announcer is going on about weight shifting and missed it.

Although the motorcycle is over 40 years old, there are still some parts that need to be maintained. I'd like to enjoy it.

I once sold a photo to Eddie I took at Laguna in 1981. He came up to Seattle and I brought an 8x10 just for his autograph. When he saw it, he asked me to blow it up as big and I could, and he'd send me what I ask for it. I had it matted and framed. I sent some proofs I took at Seattle along with the big print. Later, I was in the shower and my wife came in and said, ...Eddie's Mother is on the phone, and she wants a bunch of enlargements. So had a nice chat with Eddie's Mother.

Why no fairing on the bikes?

It depends on the regulations of the time. Displacement 1000cc or less The exterior cannot be changed. meter cannot be removed The basic frame structure and crankcase model cannot be changed.
I have a dilemma about choice one of two motorbikes. Please advice which one is easier to budget maintainance and more attractive in light offroad/to dual sport purposes? I know them from datasheet. Kawasaki, KLR600, 160 kg, looks softer. I have the opportunity to buy a 1983. We have 2024...so it's 41 years old... Yamaha, XT600 3tb, 175 kg, probably has a better power / torque on low revs. I have a chance for 1994, but it's still 2024. So i's 30 years old... Two different bikes on advertisemens, both seems well maintained. Could you advise? I need some recognising: How about parts and availability? How about the maintenance intervals -are particularly different? Thank you for your substantive answers! Regards!
@Z1100Rtaka11 ай бұрын
It's much easier to get parts for the klr600. This is because there are many common parts with klr650. XT600 parts are often unavailable, so it is not suitable for rebuilding. I would be happy if this was helpful.

Wes Cooley did get into the medical profession after he retired from racing.
Has anyone seen Peter Star's footage of the superbike race between Eddie and Freddie at Kent Washington where Ed passes Freddie on the last lap running off the track into the dirt flat out in high gear??
@Z1100Rtaka Жыл бұрын
One scene in this is the video of the checkers waving the flag. Joe Bito (BITO R&D)said he saw it. It was a mechanic on the Honda side. When I thought I had won, I went out of the lane, but Eddie, who didn't loosen up, was amazing.

I was at Seattle Int'l for that race, watching from inside turn 3a on the downhill section. Freddie was leading as they passed by on the final lap…then a growing roar from up top in the grandstands. On the cooldown lap Eddie comes by first, jubilantly pumping his arms in victory. From my location I couldn't see the overtake, so big thanks to Peter Starr for capturing the dramatic finale!

@@RickyJr46 not sure if u heard that we lost Peter Starr a few days ago from his year's long battle with prostate cancer- I went to dinner a few times and saw him at last year's trailblazers event at the Carson center- he will be missed-
