@@phedrob3735 I love them, the smell is beautiful I’ve never seen a hedge from a single bay tree. They take years to grow big.

@@DiggingwithDallas Actually, there were three bays planted into a bed right up against my side of the fence. I keep them trimmed including the runners. My neighbour doesn't cut anything back. They moved in about seven years ago and now the bay trees on their side of the fence have formed a virtual hedge. In some places it's a good deal taller than the fence itself. Interestingly, one of my bays seems to have hollowed out at the base but otherwise still looks healthy and still puts out loads of runners

I tried the fishing line but didn't stop it, tried a flexible green mesh 1m fence all round again just jumped over into the water shallows . Plastic heron didn't stop it as you said and flapping bits of coloured tape on sticks no effect. Had no choice but to use heavy duty large hole (5-6inch wide)netting over top of 1m fence and even that it landed on several times before it gave up but again has come back again months later to try again and thankfully failed so they are very persistent. Not overly happy with the way the pond looks with the netting and makes access more awkward but fish are safe for now.

What time is the best to do this? I have 2 and they haven't bloomed well this year (one worse than the other). I know they're super crowded so that's a possible reason...
@DiggingwithDallas3 ай бұрын
If they are overcrowded definitely split them, personally I’ll do it backend of the pond season as it’s going into the winter or very early spring time, add lots of new pond soil. Sit them first into a bucket of water (pond) to let it soak in the new water before it goes into the pond, this will help with any excess soil going into the pond, Hope this help helps you out.

Before add for that reason I’ll ask why you have higher nitrate?? Possibly over feeding. Personally I’ll hold back on food for a day or so than add it in slowly they will still eat and eat if they are koi and goldfish but the pond temperature can only handle so much poo with the temperature we have at the moment in the uk. Then add one add it in to your filter this should help you out Hope all this helps if you need any more help just ask.

Great video. I have a few very small wildlife ponds with no filters or aerator. I rely on oxygenator plants to keep it healthy. Unfortunately, I have a massive tree that loves putting leaves in the water, this has led to decaying organic matter at the bottom of the ponds and is starting to make them smell stagnant. Im going to give these bombs a go to try and help. My question is - Is it possible to half the bomb and share it between ponds? My ponds are nowhere near 20,000L, so feel if i drop a full bomb in one pind, it would be a waste. What are your thoughts? TIA.
@DiggingwithDallas7 ай бұрын
Ok so you can not over treat the pond with one, as for splitting them I don’t know how easy it will be. They do also so I tub with lots and lots of small one in it As you are adding them to 2 ponds personally I would go down this route. Hope this helps you out.
