Nah you don't have to be weird to get cosmetic overclocks, you just have to have already gotten all the weapon overclocks ...wait that's not much less weird

obligatory mention that the engineering grind recently got hella slashed the spawnrate of materials at high-grade emissions POIs was MASSIVELY increased (like, to the point that a single one will completely fill your storage with a bunch leftover whereas before it'd just be like 9-15% of your storage), the droprate of materials (including odyssey materials) from missions was increased substantially, and there's no more RNG-based "attempts" when doing the actual engineering of ship modules (instead just giving a fixed amount of progress toward 100% equal to the reciprocal of the blueprint's grade) also we stole more space lettuce tech to make supercruise overcharge FSDs (basically boost but in supercruise), which is mainly useful for getting out of gravity wells, but it also brought the current fastest Hutton Run time (according to ForTheMug) down to 24 minutes and 21 seconds (by CMDR Osiliran on August 12, 3310 (2024)) also also there's 4 new ships (2 of which currently being paid early-access) and at least 2 of them are meta-breaking. Specifically, the Python Mk 2 is basically in many ways a better Fer-de-Lance for PvE (dunno about PVP), and the Mandalay is unquestionably the new top-tier explorer. The Cobra Mk V is just a better Cobra Mk III in every way but still isn't the best at any specific thing (except maybe maneuverability), and the Type-8 Transporter is... well it has the highest cargo capacity of any medium ship, but it's not as good at mining as some ppl were hoping also also also powerplay was reworked to fix a lot of the annoying stuff (all power-exclusive modules can be unlocked from any power now, just at different ranks, and u don't need to constantly do stuff to keep ur perks) and that's about all I can really say about it because I've been been preoccupied with getting back from a scenic route trip to colonia that i aborted halfway through because the thargoids hit the fucking pentagon

This video is beautiful to watch and true open world, I think he means no invisible boundary, like Zero Dawn Forbidden West - insanely huge but at one point your warned it will reset ornif your flying will turn you around, as with this game being a planet there will be no barrier :) I can definitely see similarities, the way the grass moves when running through , the water, even the way they hop on the dragons is the same movement you hop in your ship in NMS, (they might add slight differences like harder to take off in high winds/on top of mountains, speed resistant depending on altitude or dragon size or have different dragons take off differently like taking a run 1st etc). Very much looking forward to it, I know a heap of in game effects were put into the last NMS update like the water effects etc. But if you've never played NMS this game would be beautiful.

There is a strong probability I'll play this game when it comes out. Looks interesting. I won't be the first buyer, and will see what it is before hand, but, like I say, strong probability.

2:52 I get what he means here. No matter what in most open world games you will eventually hit an invisible wall or expanse that can not be crossed. The stretchs of land in fallout 4, the flat land beyond the badlands in cyberpunk. The seas and mountains in the witcher 3. All of these mark an end point to where you're allowed to go, and I think what he means by the first real open world, is that there is no end point. You can keep going around the entire planet in a straight line, and end up where you began. That's not something you can do in many games, and it just wouldn't be possible without procedural generation.

Well _hopefully_ you'll be able to go around the planet in a straight line. Nothing is confirmed yet, but the insistence on calling the map a planet makes me thing it will be spherical.

Yeah, you're 100% right. I'm really excited to see how sailing and water physics work together in LNF, since in NMS water is just a flat layer with the new tech as visuals only.
