i also have a Katna 100 Mk II but I can't seem to figure how to get the Librarian to connect to it. Do you need to connect via the Airstep Kat, which I also have, or do you need some special bluetooth adapter for the amp? I can use the Tone Studio through my laptop and then save settings to the amp, but I'd like to try the Librarian with my Android phone... thanks.

@@bluarcher5941 Hey bud. I use the USB-B to USB-C cable. Not sure if you use an iPhone or Android. I use my Samsung Note 10+ and it automatically connects to KATANA LIBRARIAN. But maybe it's because I use the cable.

@@markuron4 thanks for the response...yes, I have an Android phone. So, you are connecting direct to the Katana amp from your tablet if I'm understanding correctly?

so does the app take the place of the GAFC footswitch in a live situation? If so, then you put your phone on a music stand or something where it is instantly available for channel changes or what?
@markuron4
@markuron4 4 ай бұрын
You can do that. I’ve done that live. The advantage to that is switching not only from preset 1-4 but you can switch for example from Bank A 1 to Bank B 3. Very practical. You can also switch banks and turn on/off effects.

No idea why boss hasn't made an official app. It would open up so much more possibilities for katana users without a PC, or people who just can't be bothered plugging it into their PC.

You would think that since they created the amp that’s they would also create an app to take advantage of all the features of the amplifier. Instead, we have to rely on 3rd party apps. I completely agree.

How do i hook my phone to the amp?
@markuron4
@markuron4 10 ай бұрын
Hey Ralphie. The cable you’d be using is a USB-B to USB-C. That’s the cable that has a connection to your phone and the other end is the toe of printer cable. You can find it on Amazon for under $10.

You can also save premade patches created by other users onto your Katana's A/B memory bank channels, I saw that on another video demonstration just yesterday. I'd rather use a tablet vs using my phone though, so I'll be buying one in the next couple of days. Being able to save those premade patches directly onto your amp's memory banks is a pretty big deal, especially with all the ppl out there who've been creating crazy high quality patches. I've heard some really good ones that sound _exactly_ like the guitar tones of specific bands on particular albums. I know there's probably a lot of ppl producing some pretty mediocre patches as well, but I've heard several that are 100% dead on. I'm fairly new to all of this digital / modeling stuff, so it kinda blows my mind that I could conceivably have 8 exact replicas of the guitar tones achieved by several of my favorite bands on specific albums available at the touch of a button right there on my amplifier's panel.

Thank you Devin and that's exactly it. But how many different tones are really needed... usually players pick 2 or 3 different tones and kind of stick to those. You can also maybe label the foot controller if you're using one and use that as a reference. I'm hoping to make some more videos soon but I hurt my left left hand and haven't been able to play lately. But thank you again.

Get the 100. I was getting ready to buy the 50 until I saw the back of the amp. The 100 has the effects loop and a line out. The Boss footswtich is not compatible with the 50. There are 3rd party switches. the 100 has multiple pedal inputs so you can have a footswitch and an expression pedal. Do a search for Katana 100 vs 50 for more details. My 100 is in transit right now.
