You shouldn’t call it the best budget hunting gear until you have used it. If it doesnt work then it is just a waste of money and junk.

Adjust your pack so it doesn’t sit on your belt. Should sit a little higher on your hips. It’ll also make it feel lighter. I bought the kings camo preacher pants for this year, a little heavier because i’m going in mid October, but I think that they’re going to be great with their zip open vents. Camo seems like a really good company. Another company that is kind of like Guidefitter is called expert voice and then being a veteran you can also get on Sitka and kuius pro plans. I am about to do a similar video to this this weekend if you want to follow along and get even more ideas. Great video!

Thanks! I appreciate that and I actually didn’t have to pay anything. I have 6 properties now and haven’t paid for any of them yet. I do think the state and region matters but I also knock on a ton of doors. If you ever have any questions about door knocking let me know. Thanks for watching!

If MO did away with fall season, I don't think you'd see much change in the turkey population. Without predator control, trapping comparable to what we had pre 1990, the turkey (and quail) populations will still decline.

I hunted N Florida last 45 years on public. Virtually no loss of habit. Forestry practices like burning during nesting season and explosion in predators due to low fur prices are the two biggest factors there. They also removed free range cattle which were beneficial.

Looking forward to the build. I think it was mentioned already, but for sure add insulation. Will help with overall comfort in cold/hot climates and adds versatility. I have a 5x10 that I take to the track/motorcycle racing...so spring/summer weather and I only insulated the ceiling...helps a lot with heat transfer. I kept it fairly stealth/no windows, etc. so it looks generic, but it provides a great way to camp when at the track once the bikes are unloaded. I added a 12v battery for lights (interior & exterior) and then some tubs w/camping gear. A shelf in front for tools/maintenance supplies and use a cot to sleep on. Simple, and space is open to haul bikes & gear. If my trailer was 6x10, I would add fold-down bed of some kind. Good luck!
@voyageoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Yea I'm definitely adding insulation, coming in the next video! Thanks for the input!

The beauty of a cargo trailer is that it's a blank canvas. I get that you want to keep your conversion under $500, but I can't stress enough how likely it is that you'll want to do more with it---in fact, as you use it for camping & hunting, I'm betting you'll find that you NEED to do more to it. If you look at my video on the conversion of our 6x10, you'll see what I mean. I bought our trailer initially to build out to teach scuba diving. And that's still it's primary role. We kept camping gear in it as well, but it was definitely not designed to include that purpose. When I started getting hooked on van life and cargo trailer life videos I realized I was missing out on huge opportunities. As a result, I added insulation to the roof (and finished it out), and installed a 12v electrical system along with a solar rig. Over the months, I found more things to finish it out to make it a pretty decent off-grid capable conversion that still maintains my ability to teach scuba out of it. Electricity, water, a berth bed system, ventilation, storage for food, etc...these are truly making the difference between just something to block out the elements to something that actually is pretty darned comfortable. As the temps here in south Texas started dropping into the 30's we added a Buddy Heater (with thermoelectric fan hack) and keeps the trailer comfortable (even though I haven't added insulation to the side walls...that's a much bigger future project). It's been a learning process. At this we're probably into the upgrades for about $2,000, but now we have much few limitations on where we can go with it. We have pretty easy upgrade capability as well (we can quickly add more solar panels, more or larger capacity battery, high capacity solar charge controller, more 12v lights/outlets). I'm anxious to see the rest of your build, what your choices are to include in a $500 configurationt. Even if you think you're going to stop at $500, really consider leaving yourself ways to easily upgrade as you go. Hindsight being what it is, I wish I had installed insulation in the walls before we did our initial configuration as a scuba trailer. It would have been a very inexpensive augmentation and really easy to do before installing all the shelves, etc. for the dive gear. Obviously, a build-as-you-go approach allows you to spread upgrade elements out over time and budget--but planning out those various stages/milestones will help you not waste money or energy having to "undo" previous work to add a new element (e.g., electrical wiring, insulation, water hosing). Oh, and one other thing we recently did was had the axle flipped. This gave us 5 extra inches of ground clearance and will allow us room to install a 30 gallon fresh water tank underneath to extend our off-grid capability.

Yea I have already had a ton more things that I have decided to do since starting. As you stated once I got started, more and more things come up that I'm wanting to do. Insulation was actually decided last week and I will be adding in the next video. Thanks for the input.
