Hi Sir, may I know what is the bit where your left hand is touching? Also what is that hard ring joint called between the long according and short accordion (I don't know the term 😂). Your taking time in replying will be valuable. Thank you for the post?
@mcalpineplumb2 күн бұрын
The part in the left hand is called the WC Connector Outlet, the part in the right hand is referred to as the Inlet and the part in the middle is simply the Flex, hope that helps.

@mcalpineplumb Thank you for replying. I bought a McAlpine connector and my band mate helped me sort the issue because a rogue plumber charged me £580 for nothing, he sealed a brittle connector toilet end to soil pipe but never found the source of the leak. Wish me luck on chasing a refund. Your products are the best. When I build my carehome it will all me McAlpine products.

Chat GPT contradicts your last comment about only fitting in a vertical position. Also where in the instructions or on Website does it say it can only be fitted vertically?
@mcalpineplumb11 күн бұрын
Regarding your comments on the installation of the WC-CON8V the reason the connector is advised to be installed in the vertical position is because the boss-inlet to vent or take another appliance is above the water line during discharge of the WC cistern into the WC pan. If it was installed in the horizontal position the inlet boss would be in the mid-flow position which is never advantageous, any real tradesman would be aware of this as it may pull the appliance water seal.

Would one of these work on a lead pipe?
@mcalpineplumb17 күн бұрын
This is not something it has been tested on, but essentially it will seal on the inside of any 57mm hole provided the back plate is of a similar profile as the pipe it's fitting to.

too huge, requires to have minimum distance from the floor, The alternative is cheap and relayeble and much more simpler then that. That also have a cleaning option. what you fail to learn that a vacuum clean even the one we all have at home will work as a charm to clean all pipes and blockegges. Is ok if you do it and clean up the vacum. Dont such too much water but it will work . Trust me I am a scientist:))

is this the same as a water softner?
@mcalpineplumb18 күн бұрын
No, Scale Defender seals the Calcium and Magnesium so that Scale cannot form. A water softener removes this, the human body needs both these elements. Also a water softener uses electricity, Scale Defender does not. And a water softener uses Salt and gallons of water to flush and regenerate itself, Scale Defender only treats the water you use.

What he didnt show you was how bulky it is inside the soil stack with possible issues of build of products such as loo paper effluent if it's fitted below the soil appliances. It also doesn't take into account the build up of scale etc inside the soil pipe so when tightening up the boss pipe and that internal isn't really clean uou could end up with it leaking! With a standard glued boss pipe their is no intrusion inside the soil pipe itself so no risk of snagging of loo paper etc. In cases say in high use flats where water is constantly being discharged down the stack then its a good solution .
@actorlyricАй бұрын
That non return valve once its gummed up with hair & products etc becomes useless and rhen bexomes non operative as most customers have no idea hiw to maintain and clean them out. Does that trap have a 2.5° gradient or is it a horizontal outlet. Most shower traps struggle to clear properly especially if its served by an electric shower with poor flow rate add to that when shiwer gel foams up so then the waste pipe hardly ever runs full bore to clean it , as it would with a bath flowing fullbore when emptying ! Thats when you get the build up of hair and product's. So its ok having a trap that allows for minimal depth especially on solid floors and low profile trays. Alot of plumbers have no idea about self siphonage or induced siphonage they just fit whatever will fit in ! Esoecially in flats where tbe traps require a deep seal to overcome being pulled by other appliances above or below . The ending result being smell emanating into the bathroom. Now in an ideal world that trap you showed would be great but in the ream world not necessarily so wspecially in student accomodation where they dont gjve a rats back side and it just gets left !! Hair and products are tbe bane of any shower trap or bath trap come to that really. Sort that out youre onto a winner !
@mcalpineplumbАй бұрын
Thanks for your detailed feedback. We certainly cannot disagree, hair and cleaning products are more often than not the cause of a lot of waste issues, that’s why all our traps are designed with servicing in mind.

Do you make a DC1-BL type fitting for 95mm ish cast iron?
@mcalpineplumb3 ай бұрын
We do not but you could use a MAC-EXTB which will get you from your cast then use a DC1-BL into that. Failing that you would need to look at something like a Fernco coupling which we don’t manufacture.

Seriously extensive product range & a super convenient bit of kit, BUT, I'm still sceptical about flexible pan connectors in particular. Like he says, they are usually in a concealed area - I've heard some horror stories, particularly re. rats, but it's also going to be subjected to a variety of chemical products over the years e.g. sodium hydroxide. A product that thin & flexible just can't be as robust and have the same longevity as rigid connectors? I'm happy to be told I'm wrong in this thinking......
@mcalpineplumb4 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your question. We're primarily a trade manufacturer so it's really down to the tradesman’s preference. Rats can be an issue for Flexible WC Connectors of that there is no doubt, but they can be equally as destructive to Rigid connectors as they can be to Flexibles. We manufacture the ARB-1 to try and mitigate this risk. Regarding chemicals our Flex is manufactured from Polypropylene which is extremely resilient to chemicals and should cope with anything your average household would throw down a WC. Regarding the robustness, we give a 10 year Guarantee on our Flexible WC Connectors which is market leading, and we have many out in the real world that outlast that guarantee with absolutely no issues.
