Doesn’t change that this beat isn’t on “another level”. Dude barely differentiates himself from the rest of the basic chaps. If you listened to 1, you’ve listened to 10. Stagnant, stale, boring. Anyone notable, or on “another level”, makes interesting beats with new approaches and twist plots. This is yet another copy-pasta beat maker abusing the fuck out of high-hats with the same bland rhythm and flow.. Search YT for free freestyle beats and you will find beats very similar to this. Same with those mumble rappers. Not interesting most of the time because they all sound and do the same. Same with all those guys who only rap about drugs, money, “i am better than you” etc.. Listen to some black thought, listen to how much variation there is in the beats he spits on. Listen to some J Cole. Jedi Mindtricks. Central C. A$AP Ferg. Kendrick Lamar. Varying beats. Interesting layers. Innovative. This was the opposite of innovation. 😂

Make artsy producer-facing beats then. Get a Cole placement. Moving the goalpost only makes you feel like you're right. He clearly said this beat is made for Lil Tecca. Also the song "Amari" was made with a loop that Timbaland got from Splice and put drums under. Timbo didn't even save the session since he thought it was too "basic" and had to make the beat again. And it became one of Cole's biggest hits. Simple. Beats. Get. Placed. Artsy. Beats. Get. Skipped. Most of these artists are NOT trying to perform on top of your fever-dream symphony. They just need a canvas. Artists that don't want basic beats will make their own. It's not a hard thing to do. Where composers and specialized producers are trying to create thousands of canvases for as many opportunities as possible, an artist focuses on each canvas as they need it. Also. Did you ever consider that this canvas could be intended for a flip? Nobody hates basic beats. They just don't like not knowing why the beat is so basic. "Hot N****" was objectively not a complex or advanced beat, yet check the views on Jahlil Beats' breakdown. Finally I feel I need to remind you that this was probably the first session. In my experience it can take 10 sessions to make one beat. Not everybody can do that. Time constraints are a very real factor to consider. Criticism is the killer of creativity.
