Occasionally yes, I have an example in the lichess study where it's a mistake playing it and you should just play h5 immediately.

Nice video, can. you do a similar one on more advanced concepts?
@zigzagchessКүн бұрын
Sure, but these are already very advanced concepts. I first heard of them when I was like 2100 FIDE. I was tempted to also include what Andrei Terekhin calls "the cage" in his book techniques of positional play which is basically a specific pawn formation found in rare openings like the beefeater (yes it's called that) where the bishop is really poor. However, I found it really advanced and even I struggle to find those patterns in my games.
@BysakthiКүн бұрын
You really but know these concepts before this video and many times applied then in my game i still don't have rating but quickly grab it becoz of some financial problems i didn't participate in fide rated tournament becoz it cost much than state level tournament

@@zigzagchessRestricting pieces is pretty basic, it’s just placing pawns to block bishops and remove squares for knights.

Black flagged because he made an illegal move. Though it was brilliant play by Hikaru’s opponent for most of the clip. I doubt he’d be able to convert the advantage even if he did have a bit more time tho, especially against Hikaru. Knights are tricky in blitz.
@fenomen3203 күн бұрын
@@logicallylazy but when an illegal move is made, is it a lose directly? I thought arbiter would be noticed and then the game would continue
@logicallylazy3 күн бұрын
@ not too certain. I believe FIDE has ruled different things throughout the years, but I think it’s an instant forfeit.
@zigzagchess3 күн бұрын
@@fenomen320 Back in 2014 you would lose instantly in blitz if you made an illegal move. I think they changed it later in like 2018 or 2019.
