Being in great shape, excellent condition, and being able to effectively punch, kick, and grapple along with a knowledge and skill of how to execute unexpected moves not allowed in sport such as those seen in Krav Maga is the best system of fighting to use in a real fight. Bas is right. Ex: If you are excellent in MMA and fight someone who trains in both MMA and Krav Maga even if you get the person to the ground and are on top of him, when your opponent has a full arsenal of Krav Maga moves he can grab your face with fingers and palms on both side of face and push his thumbs through your eye sockets in a second or two. Fight is over. Of course, you need to have grappling strength and skills and good punching and kicking skills to be a great fighter, but the complete real fighter uses unexpected moves not permitted in sport (like seen in KravMaga). I agree with Bas. ************* Ur Momma

That's not the proper way to get off a choke. It shall be from inside the arms or bending the opponent's arm

very clear guide thanks, i have focus mitts but not kick shield or thai pads must buy either or both : i train in KM but we only use pads afew times per year , i think the school doesnt want to scare away business by being a true KM school. my teacher is a "5th dan " but he teaches the same old things each time and the other teachers have back grounds in alot of other styles and like silat and this is what comes in as KM . I live in France and i have David Levines 230 tech of KM which is a very good book and they teach afew tech that are in his book

I do Krav Maga and every week we spar with and without head gear in boxing, kick boxing and ground work? And they bring boxers etc from other gyms on Friday nights and we hold our own. You also need to remember fighting with gloves is a completely different game to no gloves...

krav maga.. in a real fight situation isnt that effective.. vs some1 who can fight.. its even less effective. u would lose vs most competent boxers/kickboxers. Anyone can bite or scratch etc. Most of the time its not very effective. And nearly all the time u.. u wont be in a position to use such things.. ppl who train krav maga r retarded

If he pokes your eye you would be wincing in pain. Kicked in the nuts you would crouch over like a girl. Don't act tuff like you can avoid 1000 upon 1000 years of human reaction. Krav Maga is proven in a war driven country. Smart ass.

I think its unfair to say that BJJ can't do anything about Krav Maga. I dedicated my life as a Kravist but I have lots of respect to those BJJ. We are taught not to fight in the ground and prevent Bjj from grabbing us and probably if we followed that principle we have advantage over Bjj. Bjj are awesome just like playing CHESS!

@stevefty Good post. Makes me wander as well why the Gracies didnt fight a Krav fighter to prove there style was the best in the world. They took on just about every other style out there but Krav. Personaly I think Krav and BJJ mixed would be the best. there are times you cant avoid the ground fight. There are times you cant take the fight to the ground. No fight is the same, so why not learn as much as you can from diffrent styles and hope for the best...

Mui Thai is good exercize but I would never recommend any girl (unless super fit) to get into fisting and kicking fight against bigger guy then she is. There is more chance to make guy angry then to win fight. Actually, I think that better fit for girl would be take downs and grappling techs like judo and ju-jitsu. Girl is more likely to find herself in those situations and maye may have better chance of escape. My background: Judo & JJ, TaeKwonDo, Krav and many street brawls at younger age.
