I was his Maths teacher when he was 11..... He probably long forgot me... He is absolutely recognisable from being an 11 year old. I am impressed by his career..... It would be fun tlaking to him/meeting him (again....)!

Re-watching The Bill from the 90s-early 00's and I would never have believed Smithy would make it to Inspector! Especially those earlier episodes where he just seemed like an angry racist. What a turn around.

Smithy was in an impossible position. He didn't want to suspend Stone, but he had Meadows and Kennedy breathing down his neck. He had no choice. If he'd refused to discipline Stone Sun Hill would not only lose a highly respected Sergeant but an equally respected Inspector and they'd need to be replaced. You'd have to either bring in someone new, or promote Jo to Acting Inspector and while she was an extremely capable officer she'd never command the respect Stone or Smithy did.

Watching reruns of The Bill on TV shows just how far television and the quality of weekly drama shows has declined. The Bill was absolutely brilliant and I doubt writers today have what it takes to create something like The Bill. Certainly not for any real length of time

My goodness, Ruth is tasty

Greatest and most realistic UK cop drama ever. The ability to scatter small everyday details in-between the drama was brilliant and made the show very relatable and realistic. I rewatch the show often and like many of you I miss it too but I can also imagine how awful and politically correct/politically focused a rebooted version of The Bill would no doubt be.

I was in love with this man as a kid , totally obsessed with him,30 yrs later he's still a bit of a dish 😋
