Have you done any repair/restoration on an enamel tabletop that expands? I have a vintage family piece that I need to repair - but don't know where to start
@girl-reinventing3 ай бұрын
Hmm, only have worked on the solid surface one. I do know you can buy enamel repair kits at the hardware store. I have not used it as of yet but it looks pretty easy to use. Good luck!

Carpenter syringe looks like a horse deworming tube to me 😅. I have a lovely old chest that has merely one piece of veneer only lightly warped. What you're tackling here is impressive to me! I would have never thought that piece fixable. Amazing! ❤

I can appreciate the amount of work and skill you put in to saving this piece and making it useful again. I would have preferred the more decorative drawer and a different colour myself but none the less you still did a great job.

Thanks! I still use this cabinet every day and the paint has held up beautifully! Definitely 👍🏻 on the products :)

Really lovely. Good idea to use the syringe to apply glue in tight spots. And I had to chuckle at the staple removal because I FEEL YA. This corner curio I’m revamping is just as aggravating in that way. Tomorrow, I plan to dig out an old flathead and bifurcate it with my angle grinder-make my own staple puller-because today was a headache!

It was 100% found in the trash. My neighbor alerted me it was on the curb and my son and his friend brought it home while I was a work because the trash truck came. 🤷♀️

I may have missed it if you told us how long in length and how many bundles do you work with for a chair? Are bundles the way to go for ease of use? If so, what length do you make your bundles?
@girl-reinventing6 ай бұрын
Hi there sorry it took so long to reply (working a lot these days) . So the bundles are personal preference. Make them as long as you can manage them. It’s a trial and error process, sometimes the longer they are more tangled they get when you’re pulling through. Mine usually end up roughly 10 feet. Hope. It turned out well :)

Just bought four ladder-back chairs with paper fiber strung seats. They're old and look to be in good condition. Is painting the bottom, then top, with shellac make the seats more enduring? Enjoyed the demonstration - replacing the string!

To help prevent your scrap piece from sticking to the repair, you have some other options as well. 1. Use wax paper between the repair and your scrap clamping board. 2. Keep some scrap melamine for projects like this. The glue will not stick to the melamine, and you won't need the wax paper. Hope this helps.

Maybe upholster some canvas along the top back part of the drawer? Then you could roll it back and forth when needing to access the inside? Kinda like the divider in a suitcase? 🤷♀️ that’s probably what I would do :)

I am so excited ..... I have a stool identical to yours that needs a rushing redo. Would you please give the dimensions of the cardboard triangles and if you can buy the small wood triangle tool. I am tool challenged and do not have equipment to make my own wood tool. Because of you, I am going to try to do this. THANK YOU.
@girl-reinventing Жыл бұрын
The triangle pieces are just random sizes cut from left over cardboard boxes. You use have to get to the point where you need to fill the gaps and cut to fit. The wood pieces that I use to adjust the rush are just made from left over scrap wood and a dowel that we sanded to a point. Not sure if these tools are available to purchase. Check out the silver river chair’s channel on KZbin.. he’s the master ! Might find more info for “proper” tools. Good luck but more importantly have fun! You can do anything just have to try ☺️

Just thinking outside the box here but you could use a flat head screw driver the same way as that wood triangle.. just tap the handle with a small hammer 🤷♀️

I’m going to offer constructive criticism so hopefully it will be received as such. Do not want to see anyone offering good information not do well. Maybe I’m just cranky and impatient today, but your intro slow and rambling, then when you did get going…That music. No. Just…why? Just demonstrate and explain in your own capable way and it’s fine. The music really detracted and was annoying. What is the deal with people playing music in a diy video? The only time it feels appropriate response there is a time-lapse kind of thing and sped-up action is accompanied by music but even then it’s not a bad thing to just let us focus quietly on the actions. OK I’m sorry that turned into a rant!
