0:14 of the movie. I will propose to use #12 socket and use only fingers. It pop up quite easy. i damaged my two oil seal's springs.

just did mine on a 2006 ML 500 with the m113 engine, absolutely no need to mess with ropes or air compressors, just make sure you rotate each piston to TDC while changing the seals. I used a thick cable tie inserted in the spark plug hole to check for TDC. Once you do this, the valves can only go in like 1-2 cm before contacting the piston and the valve stem sticks out at least 2-3 cm, zero chance to drop it inside the cylinder. It's very important to hammer the tops of the valves to loosen the keepers before you remove them, they tend to be kinda stuck and reduce the chance to bend the valve while pressing the spring to remove the keepers.

Hi was is showing "roof in operation" when you were trying to open the hood? My rear quater is not functioning either also the fuse keeps popping plus the central locking is refusing to work with the key :-(

@@JPANDA_108 nvm, I had to do the same thing when I did that job😂, just don’t crank it too much like he did in the video lol. When I do that the cam will tilt up, have to use rocker arm (cover) to push it back in place little by little later. Lucky, I didn’t messed up the timing

The reason that valve moving with spring is because the rope was not at correct location and support the valve as it should

hello Kalsingh11 i did this method on my clk 350 for me the stem seals when i slowly pushed them on i could feel them pop in place but they was a 1-2mm gap but the seal wouldnt go any futher, with all 24 was the same. anychance to get in contact with you, im from south east uk

Did you not have to worry about the timing etc when you removed the cam shaft bridge? Or do you only have to worry if you remove camshaft?

no, just be careful and watch the camshaft not lifting on the rear side since the chain tension is keeping the front end pressed inside the bearing surface.. i don't think it's possible to lose timing but just peace of mind

Interesting, I'll be trying this method. My roof motor/pump failed and I had to manually close the roof... with NO DAS I had to "physically" but slowly push the flaps back so I could close the trunk. The flap motor WAS working just fine, but mine are somewhat sagging due to physical push back. I'll try this method to see if it works, If not it's a rebuild ($50)

Great video...you could possibly get a lot more views/subscribers by changing the title and description slightly to help people find this video. For example, in the description, change 'wind' to 'window'. You could also put 'how to remove window regulator' as this is the term/word people search for. If you are 100% sure the leads you are using to power the motor, have a continuous supply without any breaks. I suggest you just put a multimeter on the ends on the spades and test for a 12v supply, or just connect a 12v bulb to see if there is power. If the leads are ok, then you need to replace the motor. Tell us how it went in the end. Good luck

Appreciate you man. My motor wasn’t shot. Apparently the prior owner sprayed some sort of lubricants because it might have been getting stuck but the lubricant made it worse and it clunked up causing it to get stuck. I degreased the whole thing and washed it. Roof and window is all set! Thanks to your video I did it in a hour!

It’s a 25amp fuse located inside the car under the rear storage bin. Just open the bin and lift out a small panel. The fuse should be yellow and roughly in the middle of the row of fuses. You can google a fuse chart.

Hello Kalsnigh and any on else that would like to know. The kit that you bought also comes with a pneumatic tube with spark plug adaptor. You can use that tube to connect an air compressor to the cylinder to keep it pressurized instead of using rope if you would like. Or if you prefer to use rope, it also makes it easy to get the piston on a cylinder all the way to the bottom because as soon as you put air on it, it will push the piston all the way down (be ready, and holding the back of the cam).

Many thanks for this helpful video. Made it easy to replace my rear window mechanism. I would just like to add - on my SL 2005 I also had a small 8mm? bolt holding the top panel down at the back under the flap. It holds it down and stops the boot catching when the boot opens (the other way) when the top is taken down. Thanks again.

How did you get your window to manually raise down? I changed my motor checked fuses and the window still will not raise up please help and thank you for the video very helpful

You need to establish if your motor is getting power or the motor is no good. To do this remove whole window mechanism with the two bolts as shown on my video. When removed attach a separate power supply to mechanism to see if window moves. Is motor pushes window up and down by reversing the power leads, then your motor is ok. You then need to check if the plug to the motor from the wiring harness is supplying power, check with multimeter while someone operates the power window switch on the door. If no power then you need to work back to the fuse board. If everything is perfect, then you need to get the power window module checked. Hope that helps. If your window is stuck down, I can’t remember if the two bolts to the mechanism are still accessible due to the glass in the way, just check to see if the socket will push on, you can actually watch this happen from the top of window with the trims removed as per video.

The roof needs to be taken down, to remove the window glass and mechanism. You can open roof manually if need be.

Can you tell me exactly what you used or did to make the window raise with the battery when testing it? I see a positive and negative connection from the battery are those needle clips on the numbered connector?

Hi mate, i currently got cls55 and it seems to be letting out blue smoke when I accelerate but its not loosing oil. I am not sure what the problem is you seem to know much more about the engine. Could i possibly speak to you or where can i find you ?

I would like to ask you, what was the reason of that the one of the valves has almost falled down inside the engine? I couldn’t understand that because of my poor english. The car was burning to much oil with some smoke at the exhaust. Replacing the valve oil seals improved the oil consumption. In addition I the car was running to rich due to over fuelling, this turned out to be a faulty fuel vacuum switch located a very distance from the fuel tank near the rear axle. Car is running much better now.

The rope stops the valve falling into the engine. If it did, then you would have to remove the head assembly

@@kalsingh11 do you remember how long was the piece of rope you used? And should the piston be set to the top dead center ? Or just near it? I think that if you put to much rope in it it wont allow the piston to go to its highest point. Did you remove all the spark plugs first? And did you lock the engine somehow to prevent piston going down when pushing the valve ? Like engine would turn back a little bit? Of should i not worry about that?

@@adamczyk7006 you need as much rope that you can get in. Yes remove spark plugs. Don’t worry about dead centre. You just need to push piston up enough to hold valve up. Turn the engine from the crankshaft pulley bolt.

It is possible. I bought a CLS500 from japan with only 60.000km. It has really bad lifter noise from the left cylinder bank. The car wasn't properly used for at least 3 month and was on the boat for 6 weeks not running. Not sure if one of those facts caused the issue. But those cars are around 15 years old. Things like that can happen.

Hi Kal, where are you based I need the valve stem seals done for my 1989 Mercedes benz W126 500 sec. I don't trust most local garages and they have been saying ohh you have to take head out and I know it can be done without that. Cost not an issue

Unfortunately NO LONGER available!! The Ferrari California replica in the video is from a real kit that converted the 2006 S-Class convertible Mercedes into a flawed (way TOO SHORT) version of the real thing. i still consider it to be one of the better Ferrari replicas as in a very powerful V8 in place of the Ferrari 1-5-3-7-4-8-2-6 firing order/exotic V8!! Still, it's empirical and ergonomic flaws, micro-cramped (girls/short men only) cabin are well documented (from 4 years ago)---before someone (possibly from Maranello, Italy) apparently, put a stop to it.

You didn't need to use the rope if you have a compressor. In the kit, you showed with the spring compressor and seal pliers theres a length of black pipe. That pipe can be screwed into the spark plug hole then you link the other end up to your compressor. That fills the cylinder with pressurised air which should stop the valve dropping.

Depress or press on the spring a bit then tap the end of the spring compressor with a light hammer to break the keepers loose. It may work to break them loose before using the compressor. Works on the models of 25 years ago, anyway.

This procedure improved the oil consumption and improved the smoke at idle. But did not cure the problem entirely. If I was doing this again, and considering most of the parts were removed anyway, I would remove the head and have new valve seats and recondition the head.
