I recently bought an 83, and its been ran through. The stereo didnt work and there was a switch under the steering wheel. I had no clue what it went to. Seems to be attatched to the under dash courtesy lights, but they dont work either. I bought a kenwood radio and it had a wire for antenna control. That got me thinking and lead me to this video. This is awesome!
