I know how you feel! I'm also self employed and 45 with 3 boys. Constantly going taking them to Hurling or football training and matches. Usually do my runs at 6 am as really the only time I get. Hard enough to get out this time of the year in the dark mornings!

Yea it sure is. I prefer mornings as once it's done I feel good for the day

Great video into the realities of running as a parent. Mine are 1 and 3 and a dog with persistent whippys 🤣. Everything you have said resonates with me and probably many others. I do sometimes think what is the point, but I keep running! Thanks for sharing.

Well done getting it done, I ran my first XC in Ballyclare in 2016, in reasonably good shape I thought… came 4th last and gave my almost new xc spikes away the next week, never again! Such a different type of running
@StevenNeeson21 күн бұрын
Ahh yea it's so different. I'll give it another shot some day I think but I definitely have more love for the roads!

Another great video bro 👍🏼 I’m at that stage where I’ve gotten outta the way of it and very poor diet, gaining over a stone in the last 6 months! Need to get stuck in again - these wee videos help 🤝

Totally relate to this Steven. At 44 I was sitting at 17'10, about 5 stone overweight. I've been running regular since March and lost 3 stone and although I've still got 2 to go, ran Loch Ness in 4'33'30, within 2 mins of your first one. Sub3 is also my dream, and I want to do London in sub4 in April. I'm still well off that pace just now. When would you recommend I start marathon pace sessions and how do you build them up gradually?😅
@barry5138Ай бұрын
Steven, what info do you have on watchface at 3.57? Is that distance remaining, total time and current pace?
@StevenNeeson28 күн бұрын
Tbh I'm not sure what I had at that time. The bottom one is lap pace I believe. I remember changing it up for that marathon as I didn't want to keep looking at my watch for HR and pace etc

Great video and well described. as a 50+ runner (that started running a year or so ago) trying to break the 4hr mark seems a length too far. I will get there, every tip is helpful.

I’ve been really loving the Puma Deviate Nitro 2, and as a heavier runner, they’ve been superb, and a brilliant fit. I’ve also just had my first run in the Brooks Hyperion Max 2, and I think I will love them also.

Not very often Mark. I keep starting and stopping.. its something i would love to be consistent at. When I do, I use the X3 Bar system at home.

How would you compare Dublin and Belfast? Have ran Dublin 4 times, cant run it this year so looking for a Marathon first half of next year. Was thinking maybe Limerick or Belfast.
@StevenNeeson4 ай бұрын
I think Belfast is slightly faster than Dublin, but I went out too hot at Dublin and crashed so it was a negative experience. Belfast first half is mostly flat or downhill. ,2 notable hills in the second half (18 mile is the big one, then a deceptive hill on the Ormeau road at mile 24) It's not as crowded either.
