I have considered getting my Irish Passport through Ancestry. My great-grandparents on one side are from there. I have always liked Irish people, culture etc. and from what I understand its a pretty good nation in Europe in terms of COL, politicis, work etc. Canada is crazy right now and I do not see it getting any better. I want a better future for my children and I have a really hard time seeing that here in Canada. What fo Irish people think?

I drink Guinness. Something has definitely changed in the UK since the late 70s Early 80s. The drink used to be much smoother back then a dream of a pint. Now when you go into a pub it just doesn't taste like it used to. Sometimes you may get a pint which is good or acceptable as I would call it. But in a lot of cases you either get a flat watery drink or sometimes even a sour vinegar taste. Unfortunately in the UK there seems to be no pride in what is served and the general attitude is if you don't like it go somewhere else. This attitude does not stop with beer it seems to have invaded every aspect of the service industry in the UK.

Good video man! Most people don't realize this, but drivers in Canada CAN turn left at a light in one circumstance - you can turn left from a ONE-WAY street as long as you're turning onto another ONE-WAY street! It's in the driver's handbook and it's the ONLY exception to the rule! IT'S A FACT. 👍👍

Dude. You aren't comparing Ireland to Canada, but only to VANCOUVER... That is MAJOR misleading and click-baiting. Anyway, parts of Canada were founded in the early 1600s. In my city (Quebec City) there are buildings from that era, and it's not the only place. Also, BC is DEFINITELY not representative of Canada as a whole, it has its own very unique subculture and population makeup and its own triple-pricing everything lunacy.... You REALLY ought to change that thumbnail title... SOME people might get the wrong impression about my country.

Did you not leave your apartment in Vancouver? Its one of the most walkable cities in the world. Its full of parks, downtown is Stanley park with the longest natural seawall trail in the world. Go less than an hour outside of Vancouver, its total wilderness, beautiful.

Sorry, but I'm not convinced. I live in Scotland and most (if not all) of your 5 reasons also apply here. We love Guinness here, too, and there are many bars that are dedicated to Guinness. I can't imagine it being better in Ireland, as it's already perfect, when they get it right here, as they do regularly. I'm surprised one of your reasons wasn't "the craic", as I believe the reasons usually given on this are mainly to encourage tourism in Dublin. By the way, in Scotland, we are world famous for our hospitality, so we do have our own "craic"... with a Scottish accent. 🙏 🏴

Excellent video. It reflects my experience with Irish bureaucracy. (Irish, emigrated to Canada, children born in Ireland, grand kids born in Canada - everyone has both Canadian and Irish passports.) Barry's tea? I have Lyons here. Never mind the kettle - buy a Panda water heater for serious tea drinking. All the best ;>)

The reason for all the hoops to jump though is brexit, too many brits looking to get an Irish passport, so there is a knock on for everyone, so blame the uneducated ignorant brits.

Although I really like your video, I'm afraid you missed the mark completely. Your comparison in living in Canada to living in Ireland is way, way off, You need to visit the east coast of Canada mate, you'll have a completely different experience , especially, come on down home to Newfoundland and see watcha thinks of 'er ........

As a Canadian that's been all over this country I have to say Vancouver is one of my least favourite Canadian cities and it always surprises people. Victoria on Vancouver island on the other hand is gorgeous and one of my top Canadian cities to visit. I live in Toronto and feel we have more green space and a nice beach front compared to Vancity, plus a lot more to do. Vancouver is very expensive, has crazy levels of crime and addiction and always seems dirty, dull and dangerous. My favourite cities are Victoria, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, St. John's NL and Saskatoon as a prairie city. Like most Canadian places, all are best to visit in summer or fall.

Drinking culture in Canada is not as big. Drinking culture in Ireland is awesome. More bars less questions. And people talk more in Ireland. Canada most people keep to themselves. I would not recommend Canada but everybody has a different opinion.

If you obtain Irish citizenship by naturalization (time of residence), and a few years later for personal reasons, obtain British citizenship (also by naturalization) would the person have Irish citizenship revoked? Or could I stay with both?

I believe in the case of Ireland And the UK, both countries allow you to keep another passport. Although with the Irish passport (EU) you'll be allowed to freely work and travel across most of Europe.

Hello Donn. Thanks for your content, I will be coming from Canada to Ireland to set up my new company and was curious to know what to expect. I saw your video on things you found odd in the Republic upon returning from Vancouver, and would be curious about things like "do you need to hire a car to get around", "the trains are [___] for tourists to get around on" and so on.
@donnshoots2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex. If you're mainly planning to move around Dublin then you could get by relying on public transport. If you plan to visit some of the more rural parts of Ireland then a car would give you more freedom but not 100% necessary. Personally, we have small kids so relying on public transport is difficult. It really depends what you're comfortable with and how you're used to traveling. Also keep in mind that car rentals in Dublin are at all time high in price due to the pandemic. Hope that helps 👍

Good morning Donn. It's a brisk May morning here in the hills of Kentucky. You're right about tea. I prefer mine loose. Just dump some in the pot, and let those leaves do their thing. If a few drift into the cup, it's a blessing. You never know when a gypsy might happen by, and be able to read them. Naturally, that's always anticipating that the reading will be a good one. How could it possibly be otherwise? I have tobacco for my pipe, tea for my teapot, ink for my pen. It's simply a matter of enjoying the magic that already awaits recognition. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

Hiya Donn, how's it going? I enjoyed your videos :) We're considering moving to Canada (Alberta maybe) from Ireland actually. But I'm unsure if its a good idea. Hubby is an account and I'm a stay at home mom with our 2 kiddies. I guess I'm asking if the grass is greener on the other side? We don't have much family here that we connect with so that aspect is not really an issue. If we move it would be in the hopes of a better lifestyle and future for our little ones. I'd love to have your point of view if you have the time. I hope you and the family are doing well! All the best, Natasha
