After the draining of Lake McQueeney I can tell you there are literally thousands and thousands of fresh water mussels that are dead. I'm pretty sure you guys did an Aquatic Relocation Plan for Lake McQueeney, yet there was no one out there to save any of the mussels.

i feel like generation z is going to really be the driver for preservation of these buildings, almost every gen z'er i know has positive opinions of 70s-90s architecture and hate of it is usually relegated to millennials and gen xers

Interesting. I have a background in liberal arts and philosophy, but I did a minor in generic liberal arts called an emphasis in "arts and letters" and within that minor I took a handful of environmental science and environmental studies courses and I have to say I kind of got hooked. My background in philosophy led me to the conxlusion that working in ecology restoration is a worthy and ethical way to use my life-time so I have decided I want to pursue this. I guess I'll need to do a masters degree or some kind of certification specific to ecology to make the transition.

I am a permaculture farmer. I "retired" into it, my passion, after 20 years as an engineer. I would love to know, how to get into the field of ecological restoration. Preferred required education, how to land a job. The job market for that field, doesn't look that great(I live in Texas).

95% and 97% are good numbers! I love seeing drones used for this type of purpose. Lower impact, less cost.

I think i have one burrowed into a rodent nest in a patio box. I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and apparently they dont live here. very distressing

Update: On Sept. 22 , 2015, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined that the greater sage-grouse does not warrant protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Wow. What a loss. So shocked to hear about Larry's passing. One of the best field jobs and birding trips of my life was spent with Larry and a couple of other birding crazies. So sorry to hear. He will truly be missed. I am so fortunate to have spent time with this guy!
