I still remember as a kid bringing my GBA to school so I could spend dozens of hours farming monsters in the venus lighthouse for lvl ups, and as soon as I got home from school I would play it until bedtime lol. easily 20+ years ago now.... Can't remember now if there was a secret spot for lvling in the 1st game like there was in the 2nd one. My memory is bad for the 2nd one I jsut remember there being a place where there was a chance for rare enemies to show up and if you killed them they would give you super nice xp. Kinda like the metal slimes in dragon quest if you've ever played that
