No.1 Problem with Sketchup is that it doesn't use Parasolid/Nurbs/Breps. No.2. It's stagnant. The subscription/ milking the user base with very minor incremental upgrades. Plasticity is what I'v move over to I'll look at this with keen interest.

Thank you - excelent explanation. There is one video on youtube "CAMERA JIB CRANE- A Custom Camera Rig!" by PunkerBuilds (guy made project in Rhino on high speed). It would be awesome if someone make an educational video with similar construction (crane consist welded pipes, plates, bolts and nuts).

Muy buena comparación, pero cada uno tiene diferentes propósitos, Rhino es más para productos y geometría paramétrica, Sketchup se centra más en el diseño arquitectónico primario y básico, el diseño de interiores y esas cosas, Sketchup es bueno en lo que hace para una representación simple de conceptos en 3D, compararlos sería ofenderse entre sí, Skepchup tiene más documentación y ayuda en la comunidad, Lo único malo de SketchUp es que para proyectos con mucha geometría o proyectos complejos se colapsa...

Great! Thanks for sharing! For the photos: Perhaps you need to stand in a single point (not navigate the room) and then just take the pictures around. I think the key for the photos scanning coherence is to keep the same viewpoint..

Nate - Please consider returning to Rhino videos. There are very few (good) architectural videos on Rhino and with v8 released, it's a great time to update your *"SketchUp to Rhino" workflow series,* taking advantage of Auto CPlane and Push/Pull Extrude. There are so many people posting ChatGPT/related videos and producing this content is a waste of your *unique talents and specific niche.*

omg bro, you can do with curtain wall in Revit and change the parameter, and in SketchUP I think that exists a simple plugging...this's so tedious

I switched to Revit in 2005 and taking my firm back to AutoCAD and Rhino, and using these new tools. Revit was (and is) breaking a thorough architectural process, which requires a quiver of tools (not all in one). I'm excited for these new tools!!!

This method is useless if the road is running along a sloped incline. Is there a way to do it where the width of the road would remain level?

Just project one curve and extrude that curve to make it perpendicular.

How do you convert a mesh to a surface? Like from a cadmapper file?

You can do this by selecting the mesh and typing meshtoNURB depending on the surface you can also dupedges and patch.

Also consider downloading the Rhino app you can create really fast 3d models that can then be exported and uploaded into VR - pretty sure the irhino app is free it is a WIP build.

Nice video, I am doing an animation in Rhino 7 and can not figure out out to export or use the record feature button to record the frames. I have all of the animations by snap shot and when I hit the record button it says, No animations is currently set, there is nothing to record. I don't get it

Save, it is affordable. Use free software while saving; Sketchup, Fusion360, Solid Edge, LibreCAD, FreeCAD.

What type of keyboard are you using? Try using command shift - option shift - control shift and then select. Let me know if you were able to get it.

there is only one problem with Rhino, it doesn't have a 3D warehouse lol, i think if you don't work or are planning to NOT work with organic shapes is kind of nonsense to use Rhino, yes the software is much better than Sketchup, but it lacks the support that sketchup has from companies etc (you can find 3D models, materials, etc on the 3D warehouse that are uploaded by manufacturers, and thats a big plus, makes everything easier. its a better software ? yes, but suitable not for everyone.

Hello, I have a question about BIM tools I am an interior signer. I'd like to model with Rhino and just use BIM tools for drawing. Which program do you recommend, Archicad, revit, rhino (visual arq)? I also want to know why.

Have you used Rhino Sheets and Views? Revit and archicad are really expensive! I would start with trying to do everything in rhino so maybe try visual arq?

Thank you for showing your real-world experience and how the learning process with a WYSIWYG-style tool isn't quite as simple as we might hope. If we assume every issue you ran into can be solved with more experience, it's still a tool that needs more development before it's an alternative to SketchUp/Rhino. Most importantly, in the true definition of the term "BIM", that appears to be something that is a ways off.

Nate is very well aware how 3D modeling software works. He explained this is an honest review of a new tool and he admits there are areas he cannot yet figure-out, which is *very helpful* for people who want to understand the *real-world* considerations of jumping into a tool like this that proclaims to be easy. Watching this video saved me a lot of time; understanding that if the tool does have certain functionalities that Nate missed, it will be more difficult for me to locate those feature than with alternatives like Rhino or Sketchup. Thanks Nate for the video.

Sorry for the inaccurate statement. I think the developer's team isn't very familiar with 3D modeling experience. Now, it looks like a Figma UI stretched on a few 3D tools that don't work with each other. Figma/Vectary/Spline was way better at the start and gave you what they declared on the landing page.

You're absolutely spot on with your conclusion. At my job, we exclusively use Revit with BIM 360, allowing large teams to work together and also integrate consultants' models. This collaboration capability alone makes Revit very hard to replace. 15:13
