So you are saying Archimedes was familiar with sine and cosine Functions ? Which was Developed by Aryabhatta and brahmgupt almost ~750 years after "Archimedes" ? (according to popular accepted dates)? on the other hand he can draw a few circles and measure it different ropes and just average it out?

what a bad video, of course that‘s not how archimedes did it! Archimedes startet with a 6sided polygon (because he knew the sidelength thanks to euklid) and used just the pythagorean theorem to double the sides until he reached the 96-sided polygon. No trigonometric functions or other fancy stuff…

Downvoted because you didn't share your sources, nor did you hint at the royal misstranslation that is the latin "sinus" (meaning bosom), which comes all the way from the Sanskrit "jyā", which literally means "bow-string". According to Hindu Trigonometry, by Bibhutibhushan Datta, the Sanskrit "jyā" was adopted by Arabic speakers and pronounced as "jiba". With time, it evolved into "jaib", and Latin translators subsequently confused it for a native Arabic word of similar phonetism which meant "bosom", or "bay". Sources: - "Hindu Trigonometry", by Bibhutibhushan Datta. Indian Journal of History of Science.

"Pythagoras" here is even misspelled! Scholars, like with Homer or Zoroaster, can't even date when he lived; it might have been around 9000 years ago. There are no extant writings by Pythagoras. We only know about much later Pythagorean communities in Kroton, south Italy, of which there isn't even any archaeological evidence... Do you really think that, whether it's Beethoven or some old bluesman, they wrote music according to this stuff? 🙄
