My opinion is: WTF CARES anymore!?!? It's high time we stopped giving the entire Kardashian clan any positive attention anymore. I was done with them before they even got started. -_-

They also say that Catherine DeMedici “started the corset” by importing frames from France. What was France doing with those frames? Thus, didn’t France start corsets?

I have this model machine but from 1910. What were you using to clean and restore some of the parts. I've played with mine a bit but I'm scared to use harsh chemicals on it. Mine is also just the machine I am in need of finding the table top and treadle legs.

Did she have some ribs removed, like Cher did? IMO she is advertising her insecurity about her body. Very insecure people have the habit of exaggerating, when they think it makes them more beautiful.

18:06 you saying that RIGHT THERE, Roe V Wade and then her wearing this dress, that opened my eyes BIG time. It makes me sad 😢 on top of that, it was just disrespectful to wear this iconic dress. I may not know much, but I know how my momma talks about Marilyn Monroe and that’s enough for me to know this dress should never have been worn. And yes, it’s Ripleys fault. They should have stood up and said NO. But for the sake of money they destroyed the dress. Wow.. 😢

that removing a rib tall tale is an old old tale that was said back when I was a kid about fashion models and I am 61 so it's not a new thing but it sounds just as stupid today as it did back then. some models use to claim they had back teeth removed as well to get that hollowed out cheek look, it seems like a lot of rot to me but who knows and who actually gives a damn?
@tulipsalinger14102 күн бұрын
ultimately kim is an adult and it was her choice to wear that dress, she could have worn any other dress she wanted so I blame her and the jerks who gave the dress up to her to wear. people need to be held accountable for their actions.

try as I might to like Chloe Sevigny because everyone says how cool she is I find I can't jump on that bandwagon because she herself thinks she is so cool and is kind of smug! also I read an interview with her about her oh so special wedding and she came off as seriously pretentious and it reeked of not cool at all! as for Kim and the other Kardashians I don't pay attention to them, they don't need my attention they get enough from everyone else and are not worthy.

this video made me fall down a rabbithole... Ralph Earl ( 21:33 ) really can't draw children! he painted several portraits during his lifetime, and while he suffers slightly from "same-face syndrome" he's true (un)talent was drawing terrifyingly uncanny valley-esque children, which is not only represented in Mrs. Noah Smith and Her Children but in all portraits featuring his subject's child or children. Fascinating!

2:33 you forgot to mention during the dark ages of Europe bathhouses were not widespread. they were not maintained after they were made under Roman rule. Its known for how it was spread, lack of hygiene. Just look at per capita 💀 rates Europe vs the Middle East you see a clear difference, and the reason why is tied to Muslims making hygiene a cornerstone of their religion.

I tightlace occasionally and have another possible explanation for the stiffness and discomfort: bloat. Gas or water retention from indigestion, constipation, carbonated drinks (champagne, anyone?) or even the natural menstrual cycle can create counter-pressure which affects comfort and mobility in a corset, especially when tight-lacing. Tight-lacing over a tummy that wants to be distended is like corseting a beach ball. When the wearer's innards are being compressed by both the corset and an additional factor, extra pressure is put on the body to achieve a wearer's normal lacing. The stiff walk we see in this video typifies a corset-wearer who is experiencing significant pressure on their lower abdomen. One thing which tightlacers like myself have reported experiencing from over-tightening or wearing poorly fitting corsets is pain, tingling, numbness, and pressure through their hips and the tops of their thighs, making bending at the hip and lifting their legs uncomfortable. The awkwardness in the video could simply be from over-tightening, but because it seems like a significant difference in comfort level from the rehearsal video, bigger than I would expect from an incremental increase in tightness, and the signs of pressure on the pelvic region, I wouldn't rule out something like bloat as a contributing factor just pushing the corset from "tolerable" to "actively painful".

You can use moderate amounts of bleach with your septic system. The amount you use for a load of laundry in an HE washer is absolutely ok. It turns into salt and water. The detergent you use is actually worse. Also where are you buying tshirts? Like mine aren’t expensive but like $3 walmart tshirts last me a decade. I think some of them have lasted 20 years until I manage to really rip an unrepairable hole in them. Cold wash with the minimum of detergent, vinegar added occasionally or to underwear loads. Line dry if possible but if your dryer isn’t drying clean your exhaust. I can almost guarantee that either you have a kink or you have a clog. I did loads of towels in a standard home machine for a vet clinic and they were dry when we unloaded them unless the exhaust had gotten clogged.

I just don't get it. I watched the South Park episode and the "most beautiful woman in the world". But bad tight lacing is just not pretty to look at. But I know that's a subjective thing. The big issue comes from how this presents corsetry in general to the masses. We've already complained about the movie tropes. We've all seen the facebook memes passing turn of the century propaganda cartoons as fact. Is it just me, or does this kind of stunt just reinforce the corset = anti-feminism idea?
