I am glad you found it useful. As for your question, you need to go on the Dassault website and you will find your way to the appropriate section. They are very helpful in giving academic researchers and students access to the software. In fact, they have a special student version (pretty much close to zero cost).

@@HadidDesignWorks Dear HadidDesignWorks, keep in mind that the DMU Kinematics workbench is "Kinrmatics" ie, everything is rigid (no deformation). Compression of spring is a dynamic process. you have to use the appropriate software for it, such as Adams, Simpack, the old Working Model (now burried inside of MSC). Cannot di it with Catia.

Thank you for the great example. Do you have tips and tricks for selecting time increments when the mesh is finer?
@naderzamani57523 ай бұрын
Dear jsy3351, this is a static solution and the "time" is not the real time. In such problems, the initial time increment is fairly randome, but the automatic time stepping is used. The minimum time increment is inportant. In your erlier comment, yo mentioned that I used wrong contact selections. Can you elaborate please.

Linear buckling analysis is only a non-conservative estimate. It ignores many things such as imperfections due to geometry, loading, material flaws/ etc. I suggest that we look at a standard book on stress analysis where things are spelled out in more detail.

You are absolutely correct. I tell the students about the Pricnciple of GIGI (Garbage In - Garbage Out). I tell them that this is how you do it in the software. The validity of the results depends on many factors that we are not disceting (in this course). They are cautioned that if you ignore those issues and do this kind of work for living, it will not be very long before receiving the pink slip.
