Love the ride especially following along with the map of the layout.

Is there a track plan to glance at?
@TrainGrandpa19 күн бұрын
I have an upcoming video that will include the track map and show the train's progress around the layout. Keep an eye out later the video towards the end of the month.

Looks like the layout needs some serious TLC, . . . .
@u2bear37724 күн бұрын
What does 'TLC' mean?
@TrainGrandpa19 күн бұрын
I would have taken offense to this, but I thought the exact same thing while putting the video together. The big challenge is that the pine trees leave a constant mess on the track. I've did some major clean-up right after making the video, but the yard is now orange again with pine needles.

This is Garden Scale (mostly 1:29 with some 1:24).

I would get into it, vegas is a good climate for this gauge and hobby. But don't have the $ anyway. Already chose ho

Definitely not a cheap hobby. Weather can be a challenge here in the Pacific Northwest. Basically can't run between November and February unless the weather is unusually warm.

An expansive, rough terrain garden railroad running through the grounds of a mid century modern home... is such an interesting combination.

What product did you use for that tunnel?
@TrainGrandpa3 ай бұрын
Those are clay chimney flues. They worked pretty well with the small amount of soil I had over the top of them, but I don't think I would recommend using them as they are a bit fragile. I ultimately ended up replacing them with cinder blocks and concrete steps stones.

make a video with fast speed❤
@TrainGrandpa19 күн бұрын
While the trains look slow, the scale speed is 35-40 mph. Anything faster starts to look unreal and also runs the risk of derailing the engine and causing damage.

It is a lot of fun and a lot of work. Those specific engines can be a bit finicky, so sometimes there is a lot of time spent bending over and fixing derails.

I love that tunnel!
@TrainGrandpa19 күн бұрын
Thanks! That tunnel was a bit too narrow for some of the larger engines, so it had to be replaced. While I like the new tunnel, it does lack some of the character of the original.

@TrainGrandpa19 күн бұрын
Oh, it was so much worse than the video shows! I have a new video coming where they discovered some of the other sounds that they can play. Less horn and bell, but still a LOT of random sounds. :)

Thank you! It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. I spent a lot of time building the bridges and trestles to complete the layout, so I now need to build some buildings and add other scenery to make it look even better. I also need to fix the water fall so that it works again.
