I remember when the lego set came in 2010 and how hyped I was for it! To this day, I must say that the Theta Shuttle might just be my single favourite starship in all of Star Wars (and the one that I'd love to fly on board as my main ship). A simple, yet elegant design combined with maneverablity and speed. What else could I ask for?

Sorry this was late but i cant keep my thoughts. This tank is so poorly designed in my opinion, no turret and the main gun is on the lower glacis! very vulnerable to infantry and has to turn every time to change direction. I guess its more of a cargo transport and civilian keeper

The Silencer is definitely more robust physically, with the Whisper having the more standard "eyeball" cockpit. Like Vaders Tie Advanced, even though it was a planned mass production model concept, it didn't get to the widespread manufacturing point, and by TRoS the standard First Order Tie was quickly replaced by the Tie Dagger.

The Avenger is the kind of ship that makes me wish the Empire at least broadened its efforts. I wouldn't need to see the default TIE, or the Interceptor, entirely phased out, but with the amount of ships a Star Destroyer could carry, it just seems like it could have been a great idea to carry MOSTLY the older, simpler designs, but then also have a few Avengers, or Defenders, that could fly out and do work, or raid away from their carrier, but still have it "close by" before resupply.

I need some fandom base since I would like to replace rail transit with such airships also able to hall spaceplanes into orbit & replace solar agricultural farms with vats of electroporated or sonoporated Knall Gas bacteria. It is an ever increasing danger of a dystopia of how rail transit trains and trolleys are used to herd subjects into solar agricultural serfdom while multistage vertical flight into orbit is only affordable for Musk & Bezos so it is analogous to Alcubierre Warp Drive at unaffordable 10^19 GEV while Neutron Flux upon cryogenically cooled aperiodic quasicrystals for a Hyperdrive could function at a mere 72 MEV so by in of for ampere coefficient Kilowatts of power are reasonable.

The stat range for this ship is just bonkers on Wookieepedia, I usually go by the legends speed of 650mph, seems much more likely compared to other ships its size. 😅

I’m so glad you made sure to differentiate the canon and Legends versions of the TIE Defender in particular. I feel like some other youtubers (intentional or not), don’t clarify which version of the TIE Defender they talk about which can confuse casual or new fans.

Interestingly in Legends, there were at least two known times where Vader flew the TIE Defender: the first time was when he and a squad that he personally picked had to fight their out of GA Zarrin’s Interdictor Cruiser and travel to Coruscant to warn Palpatine about the betrayal and the second time was when he, Marek Stelle, and Vice Admiral Thrawn had to to save Palpatine from being kidnapped.

@hyperspacedatabase According to several sources the IG 227 was mostly withdrawn during the war because this droid run out of rockets too quickly. Reloading was too difficult under battlefield conditions and to withdraw too timeconsuming.

why does every review say twin mounted laser cannon on the front when almost EVERY picture of this vessel shows 4 laser cannons, usually 2 smaller and 2 larger @1:33 clearly shows this

Different models had different configurations I would imagine. The stats I usually pull are from the Wookieepedia page, so some of them can be conflicting with shots we see.

Tighter turning than an X-Wing is very impressive for a bomber. Its a neat design too. I wish we had gotten this for the X-wing miniature game instead of that gacky looking TIE punisher
