@NDTVideoLibrary Hey this video really helped me. I realize it was posted years ago, but I suppose I'll still post my concern with getting into this field. I come from a lab background. Recently I got hired under contract in the aerospace industry, which is what made me curious about everything NDT. I started reading about radiographic testing, and ultrasonic testing, and it piqued my interest as a science based person. I had a talk with a NDT III at my job about NDT and he basically said what you said, that it's a very broad field. You can make the most money if you travel and aren't rooted by marriage or family and can travel. That aspect doesn't really concern me, what concerns me is that I was told NDT can vary as to dangerous work or not so much. So my main concern was that I have Cochlear Implants. They make it darn near impossible to wear hard hats, or any hat really. Should I still pursue this career if I'm really only interested in the lab part? Can I still make a comfortable career and retire if I'm not willing to do the hard stuff like crawling in drain pipes, or scaling buildings, or anything that requires PPE on my head?

Why not say how it is produced, no effing professor says how infrared is made, is it from electrons falling down to lower orbits or just a property of atoms?
@NDTVideoLibrary21 күн бұрын
because I didn't ask him. But here is chatGPT answer for you: Infrared radiation is generated when atoms or molecules vibrate, rotate, or move, causing the emission of energy in the infrared wavelength. Unlike visible light, infrared isn’t typically produced by electrons jumping between orbits; instead, it comes from thermal or molecular motion. Here’s how it works: 1. Thermal Energy: When objects get warm, their atoms and molecules gain kinetic energy, causing them to vibrate. These vibrations emit infrared radiation. For example, when you heat a metal rod, its atoms vibrate more, and it emits more infrared radiation as it heats up. 2. Molecular Transitions: Molecules have specific modes of vibration and rotation, which can emit or absorb infrared radiation. These transitions occur between energy levels specific to molecular bonds, which is why infrared spectroscopy is often used to identify molecular structures. In short, infrared is mainly a result of the vibration and movement of atoms and molecules rather than electron transitions between high and low orbits.

Wheres the money in Canada ?
@NDTVideoLibrary21 күн бұрын
There is no money in Canada. The unions have pretty much capped what you can earn and it isn't good for those who could negotiate higher. And secondly the taxes are crazy. And lastly, the CGSB system is a beuracratic system that makes mistakes and costs technicians time and money. On top of this, you will be working in -20 C outside. Forget about it. Better to do another trade.

@NDTVideoLibrary7 ай бұрын
B1B2 is temporary visitor visa. You need H1B visa and some company from US needs to apply for you. Look into how to get H1B visa. I would recommend applying for university programs in US and then applying for H1B. Direct H1B is difficult (almost impossible)

You must open that door, you must find a way to open it, even if you have to break it. Thats called, DEDICATION. Big thanks for that man.
