Where I live macaws fly free and they are extremely social birds who travel large distances daily. It is so incredibly selfish and abhorrent to clip their wings. I don't care how well you think you take care of them, you are not a good person.

I understand the need for wing clipping at times. That being said, you should NEVER wing clip such a young bird. It can seriously harm the development of their muscle tissues which causes issues later down the line. It can also disrupt the birds development as it may never learn to fly later in life as it's not been allowed to go through the lighting stage. Concerning the clipping itself, it is not as easy as cutting a certain amount of primary feathers, you cut them gradually while constantly adjusting after having a look at the birds flight ability after each cut to give it the proper level of altitude and making sure both wings have equal lift. I beg, do not simply watch a KZbin video without doing proper research. If you cannot get a hold of an avian vet or an experienced clipper in your area, at least video call an experienced and knowledgeable person while doing this or you risk damaging your bird for the remainder of its life.

Fantastic. I have an 8 month Lorikeet, who needs his wings and talens cutting. This is at our house in Spain. I asked our vet about cutting them, he was very reluctant, as the Spanish tend to have smaller birds like canaries and so don't clip their wing or nails. I am nervous about doing it myself, but needs must. Do you have any advice regarding the talen cutting? Regards

You should make a window platform bird feeder with 4 suction cups. I had a 4lb Birds Choice window platform feeder with just 2 suction cups and after 8 months it came off the window in the hot humid August weather and will on stick back on. Please reply, thank you!!

This species is not endangered (thank god) like many other parrots, but it's still rare in the pet trade outside of S. America. That's the main reason for the high price. In the whole of Canada where I live I only know of two breeders at present, and neither has had a fertile clutch for years that I'm aware of. So, yes, rare.

If you clip feathers they will never grow back unless you pluck them

I take my Macaw for walks on my shoulder in warm months , once she got spooked and flew into a high tree took hours to get her down. Clipped her ever since and definitely don't feel guilty I would if she flew away and never saw her again, AND to the guy that wrote that wings will not grow back unless you pluck them I've never plucked Kiwis wings and they come back every 6 months. When I first got her 13 years ago I said to vet I was thinking of joining the Calgary Parrot Club and she said if you like a group of "know it alls" go for it and reading some of the feedback on here I swear they belong in that club.

I've been watching all your vids and every shipping video I can find. I'm so anxious about getting a 16 week old Eclectus shipped Delta from Florida to Jersey. I went to the Delta Cargo pick up just to get an idea of where to go and what to do. In New Jersey at least this has to be the most unfriendly, unhelpful group of people I have ever met. They make the DMV look like a cruise ship. I'm so worried about my little guy and the 12 hours he'll have to spend in a crate. Thanks so much though for giving me an idea of what's involved.

2 months Blue and gold macaw per feed how many ml feed?
@chirpnfeed79152 жыл бұрын
How many the baby wants. You have to calculate and figure out how much the baby wants There’s no set ml. You give as the baby ask for formula obviously use common sense once you see the crop being full you will stop

Ich finde es nicht gut daß Papageien die Flügel gestutzt werden daß sie nicht mehr fliegen können, das ist Tierquälerei. Der Papagei wäre normalerweise längst weggeflogen.

Hey how long takes you until ur Hahn’s Macaw is eating by himself ? I have Hahn’s Macaw and he is almost 3 months and he still hand feeding
@chirpnfeed79153 жыл бұрын
Yea around 3 months the baby should be eating by himself. Well again it all depends, every baby is different but it should not be any longer. The weaning process is not simple but you should cut back little by little the handfeeding so the baby should not be so dependent on only formula
