Super helpful, thank you. I had chicory in commercial coffee and even have some growing in my garden. I was ready to harvest it when I found your video, super helpful! Thank you. Can you harvest the roots anytime? Mine are flowering at the moment.

This looks so good and so healthy! I've heard of it most of my life but have never tried it. Even back when I foraged a lot for wild edible and medicinal plants. I am disabled now and wish I had someone that would help me get some chicory plants and help me prepare them. I'd never be able to stand up for that long to prepare, roast, and all that. Don't guess you sell the dark roast you make do you? Also what kind of Stevia are you using and is it available through Amazon? I wish I was able to grow some stevia plant to use...it's not easy getting old and being this helpless. Loved your video and look forward to watching many more!

We don’t sell it at this time but check out Teeccino on Amazon. They sell roasted chicory root herbal coffee. The stevia I use, if I don’t use my own, is Trader Joe’s brand. It’s the only commercial brand that doesn’t have a terrible aftertaste imo. Wishing you well! Thanks for checking out our page!

Nice one ! plants are similar to Nepal. Only small differences like the breed of chicken ! also, I think I saw marigold in your garden(Tagetes spp) do you use that for medicinal purposes ? or for something else ?
@brendalynblanco12 күн бұрын
I am growing marigolds for pollinators and pest repellent. I don’t use it for medicine. Is it possible that what you saw was yarrow? I don’t recall showing the marigolds in the video. There is still a lot more I didn’t get to show. So much more on the property. :)

Is spring harvest ok? I've heard harvest in the fall and that's what I've done in the past. Need some now though.

I roast my coffee the same way, and if I let the roasted beans sit open to the air overnight it tastes much better. I wonder if it's true for chicory too?

Do they eat the leaves off the branches and strip them? Thanks. Super cute video!
@brendalynblancoАй бұрын
No they are pretty gentle on them. They will take ripe berries but that’s about it.

The warning in description is kinda incorrect. Sorghum grown with adequate water and harvested before a frost poses neither danger from either nitrate poisoning (drought stricken plants) or cyanide poisoning (after plants are hit by strong frost)

I was wondering how your chicks and hens were doing that you started. I found a place were I could order 1/2 a pound of chicks and hens. It said 20 to 30, but I received 97. I'm rooting them now, then I will plant them in my aloe, cacti, agave garden. Your garden is going to be beautiful. I hope you show it in full bloom.

I've never raised chicory but enjoy the commercial coffee/chicory blend from Louisiana. I have harvested wild chicory but have never gotten it to the point of roasting it. I thank you for the tutorial and assure you that this will be the year that I get it done. I appreciate the inspiration.

If you think about it, sorghum can be a quad use:1-humans eat the grain, 2-humans eat the syrup, 3-chickens eat the grain, 4-pigs eat the processed stalks.

@brendalynblanco5 ай бұрын
I don’t remember where we got our original seed from but you can just do a search for chicory root seeds. We usually sell them in our Etsy shop but I’ve got the shop closed for a bit. I’ll be getting it back up and running soon though! www.etsy.com/shop/KindredAcres

This type of chicory is also called endive, or "andijvie" in Dutch. In the Netherlands, it's commonly eaten raw, mashed together with potaties and cooked bacon bits. Add some salt, pepper and vinegar and it'ts totally awesome, not bitter.
