I always understood "Groovy" was a friend of Buffett's from way back and maybe a roommate of Jane's. I guess "Groovy" fits into a song better than "Ralph".

I have completed the helicopter dunker training which Mac is trying to describe. They blindfold you, dunk you underwater in a simulated helicopter fuselage and cockpit, turn you upside down, tell you to count to 10 and then escape to the surface. It's no joke. Kudos to Jimmy, a civilian, for doing what he had to do so that he could be flown onto an aircraft carrier.

And he did it as a senior citizen adult.
@jamesadams72125 ай бұрын
@@stephenandersen4625 I think he talked about it in his book A Pirate Looks At Fifty. He attributed surviving crashing his seaplane in Long Island Sound to the training. He was not a senior citizen. Still, it's a pretty good accomplishment for anyone to do by choice.

In tears... Was working on a movie in Key West during the Marie Boat Lift in 1980. We were staying at the Pier House. Over at the Green Parrot, where we hung out, Phil Clark was the bartender. This song is about him.

I knew Mac's name since the 90s because of "It's My Job," but I didn't truly know and appreciate him until the early 2010s after watching my first JB concert in Vegas. Mac is amazing too!
