Thank you SOOO MUCH I've been trying to install windows on my pc for 8 HOURS yesterday and I woke up early just to see if I could make it work, and this amazing, no BS, straight-to-the-point tutorial saved me and my sanity in less than 5 mins. These tutorials are the best kind of tutorials.

This guide is questionable, only think that leads to more shrink is disabling paging file - this is fine if you have enough RAM capacity. The other steps seems shady to me and doesn't lead to shrinking enough. What worked for me: 1. backup important files (they should be backed up anyway and you know it!) 2. reboot to Linux system on other drive or on live USB 3. search for "Disks" app (preinstalled on Debian) 4. choose your partition to shrink 5. click second icon on the left side under the disk layout graph (next to mount icon) 6. choose resize option 7. then choose amount to be subtracted from total volume (in my case I left ~150GB free space on original partition) (don't worry just follow step 8). Disk detected that the original partition was broken but after booting back into Windows and then again to Debian it was OK 8. Boot back to Windows and format the leftover to unallocated unmounted free space. 9. Then again boot to Linux and use Disks to do whatever you want with that free partiton.
