Merci de votre superbe vidéo !!! Quelle marque d'encre de chine recommandez-vous?
@ClairefontaineTV7 ай бұрын

It's obvious from this video that Pastelmat is superior to Ingres. The only advantage of Ingres is that it's much cheaper.

Are you using soft pastels or oil pastels?
@ClairefontaineTV Жыл бұрын
Hello Janine, Pastelmat paper is trusted medium for the soft pastel market, and its velvety surface has an excellent ability to hold pigments without saturation effect. It accepts wet techniques and makes the colours shine. We can recommend Blockx soft pastels: • The BLOCKX classic pastel range consists of 204 vivid colours and 82 shades for the giant pastel range. • Soft and velvety, assembled in sticks and made by hand, the soft, non-friable dry pastels have great covering power. Individually wrapped in a protective foam, they are very clean to handle. • BLOCKX pastels are ready to use, can be diluted with water and are perfectly lightfast. blockx.be/ instagram.com/blockxcolours/ Have a nice day.

This looks interesting but my experience with bamboo papers hasn't been all that great in the past.
@ClairefontaineTV Жыл бұрын
Thank you. And can you explain why please?
@OTOss8 Жыл бұрын
@@ClairefontaineTV certainly, I'll share my thoughts but keep in mind that I'm only saying what I think because you asked me to. To be clear, I'm not talking about your bamboo paper as I haven't tried it but as far as other companies go, the working properties of their bamboo papers aren't as nice as cotton. Compared to other fibre types, I found the bamboo to snag pens fairly easily when drawing on it. Whether or not it was a crow quill with India ink or a fineliner, I found the bamboo to be very grabby. That's not a deal breaker but for me, it's not desirable. I don't know if this next thing is property of bamboo fibre or a property of the sizing of the paper but I found the bamboo paper to be really, really thirsty. Given that your advertising copy there specifically mentions washes and glazes, I wonder if it's a problem your paper makers have solved. I'm sure for some applications a really thirsty paper is desirable but I was surprised by how much water the paper sucked up. Of course, all that water caused any paper that wasn't taped down to buckle. It wasn't just a normal level of buckling, it was much more than I expected or hoped it would. Again, that's not a deal breaker but it certainly makes it a paper I'd have to plan to use. I don't feel confident just being spontaneous with bamboo paper from that other company. The last thing that stood out was the price. It was just too expensive compared to cellulose based paper. I felt like it was in this no man's land of paper. It wasn't cheap enough to compete with cellulose paper and the working properties weren't nice enough to compete with rag papers like cotton or linen. Let me reiterate that this wasn't your paper. I haven't tried your bamboo paper. This was a different brand. The only thing I can say about your paper is that the packaging isn't for me. Generally speaking, I really like the paper that comes out of your mills so perhaps this paper is lovely but the packaging is unappealing to me. I hope that is of some assistance to you. Kind regards.

How can I prevent lint on Pastelmat? It gets dirty within the time
@ClairefontaineTV2 жыл бұрын
Dear Emily, The Pastelmat give the possibility to make an underground with watercolor or gouache, but it should be a light wash, because it is not a real watercolor paper… So if you have lints , you can try to work with less water or maybe sand lightly the surface with lints before drawing with pastels in order to remove the lints… Pastelmat allows the wet media, in the sense that it keeps the properties of the surface for soft pastels ( supersposition of layers, pigment adhesion…) I know that some artists use denatured alcool for creating undergrounds too ; others patellists do pastel and wet the powder for creating a special background and when it is dry, they draw with soft pastels… I hope you will find the better way for avoiding to dirty your work ! Best regards,

I have a question about how to prevent my artwork from rotting over time do I need to prep this paper so that don't happen or can I just start painting?
@ClairefontaineTV3 жыл бұрын
Hello Concerning the Oil paper you can paint directly as the paper is already coated for the oil paint. The special treatment of this surface makes each sheet non-absorbent, so oil or solvent will not soak through. It has a "paper touch", however, due to the linen-style grain, the work appears as if on canvas. The surface allows colors to be reworked while drying. Ready to use and recommended for study or outdoor painting, this paper is available in white for a traditional choice or natural linen warm shade exclusive to Clairefontaine, much appreciated by artists. Furthermore the tear-off palette is smooth and non-absorbent paper that can be used like a palette for oil or acrylic colours. The aim of this product is to enable the artist to prepare colours on pure white surface giving this way the exact colour shade. When finished you remove the dirty sheet and the next one is ready for use. It is perfect for use either in the studio or in the open air and prevents long and annoying cleaning of plastic of wooden palette.

Thank you so much

This sort of paper is pretty tough. I actually scrape it clean, go over it with a baby wipe and use the same sheet again and it's just as good.
